I bought a TV tuner PCI card today, and have installed it but I am having problems which I have narrowed down to an IRQ conflict.

The TV card has taken residence on IRQ 12, which is currently also home to the USB connections. Out of the other PCI cards, the SB Live! currently takes up IRQ 9 and 10 using SB16 emulation and the SB Live! itself respectively and the NIC card takes up IRQ 11. All other IRQ's are used as you would expect.

I have de-selected USB from using an IRQ in the bios, but it seems to have no effect and still takes up IRQ 12 in device manager (which of course reports no conflicts  ). I have also tried to disable the SB16 emulation which I don't think I need, but it won't work without disabling the entire soundcard as well.

Any suggestions? I have an A-Bit BM6 Motherboard and am using Windows ME.

hi go to the device manager, under "creative miscelenious devices" select the SB16 emulation and tick the disable box (if you haven't done that already).

also if you need to free up an IRQ and don't use one or both of your serial ports go into the bios and disable the one(s) you don't use. they are usually under integrated periphirals<sp?>.

other than that it's sometimes worth swapping the slots the cards are in (sometimes that will stop 2 devices that don't like sharing IRQ's from sharing)
