Window's ME and DX 8 is a pile of pants

Ever since I upgraded to DX8 and ME my comp has crashed constanly, it only loads half the time and when it loads I can't play anything because of kernel errors.
Also get an I/O write failure whenever I try to install anything.
I'm going back to 98 until Microsoft patch up ME

any1 else get these probs?

I just posted about my problem with winMe, damn HD dont stop loading if i leave the computer alone for 8mins, very dodgy :(

think ill do a full format/reinstall, only have 800MB left on HD , lol.

I haven'y had any problems with ME and DX 8 i wonder why people are having problems,have you tried using the windows update feature as they sometimes have some stuff on there u can use.

DX8 is fine, the problem is ME's lovely new auto-recovery feature which runs in the background using loadsa resources and disk space. You can disable it but it will re-enable itself randomly (good old microsoft)

I had shedloads of errors after upgrading to ME from 98. After I wiped windows totally and reinstalled ME clean, no problems. I found Dx 8 caused a bit of a slow down on Q3, by about 7%.
