I have been playing FLF for the last few days now and I thought I would just post a few reasons why I think you should get out there and download it this minute....
1. This game is the first in a while where I have actually felt like I was part of a team trying to acheive an objective. If you don't play as a team you soon end up losing the match, for once everyone was more interested in attacking/defending the objective than in seeing how many frags you can rack up. Kinda reminded me of what CS used to be like in the early betas.
2. The firefights you get into can be awesome, tracers flying everywhere people providing cover fire, and you desperately trying to find a bit of cover and advance.
3. If you are a HPB the lag on this feels a lots less than any of the other HL mods, really does make a difference. I don't really complain about lag in games, but I think that this is more HPB friendly.
4. If people who leap around to avoid getting shot annoy you (they do annoy me but it's only cos I can't hit em :P ) then this is the game for you, the stamina bar really does make a difernce to the up close battles.
5. The maps are good in that you can learn them quickly and will sonn be able to find your way about, plus they have some interesting variations, one set at night in the snow, one in a village etc. Plus the way they are designed mean you have to use completely different tactics for each map.
6. I agree it with Skunks review about the damage model, it does take a bit of getting used to, would be no fun if everytime you got near to the nme base you were taken out with a couple of shots, the damage model makes the game flow at a good pace.
7. Anyone else get a bit bored sometimes when you die in the first couple of seconds in CS due to someone making a lucky headshot and then you are forced to sit for ten minutes and wait cos your whole team are AWP monkees??? The fact that you respawn with a delay in this game does not detract from the overall experience rather it makes you want to get back to where you were just defending and try and help your team out even more, specially if the nme were near to a capture.
So there you go a few reasons to try FLF...takes getting used to but is a very enjoyable & refreshing game overall with some new ideas, it's not perfect and i'm sure that some people will not like it at all but at the end of the day it is just nice to have a break from CS now and then..:)
