Righty...just managed to get two NICs and a long crossover cable free from me school (crossover still being made up).....

Now....i dunno what the NICs are....they are both BNC and RJ45 i think 10Mbits and they r ISA cards.....

Now as i dunno what they r i'm gonna have troubles getting drivers....but it says on the card Plug and Play...so does this mean that win 98 will list the name and have a driver or even just the name so i can get one?

Other thingy is how do i actually set up a network.....do i need software? is it just in networking in windows?

Also i heard having file and print sharing causes really bad secruity issues on the web?

Cheers for any info....

Firstly for the Network card, if its a realtek one then windows should detect it and already have drivers.

yup windows should just detect them :)
it should also install the correct software, you will just need to go into "control panel", "network" and set file and print shareing to on, then select the drives you want to share in "my computer".

if you have trouble getting them to see each other make sure they both have exactly the same workgroup name, something simple like "home".
