TBH I wouldn't want to, if your installing Advanced server properly then your want it on a clean system unless your mucking round on a dodgey copy, Win2k AS is well expensive :naughty:

Right u can upgrade if u know how

Do not upgrade win2k pro to adv server

fdisk your drive, remove all partitions and make the drive 1

boot from the adv server disk, allow adv server to format the drive, when it gives u the choice between FAT32 and NTFS file allocation tables, ignore FAT32 and allow it to format at least your primary boot partition as NTFS, you will then have the most stable enviroment for ADV server (NT5) to run on

I presume you are running to Adv sever as u need to run a sever for a lan for over 30 workstations or webserver
If you are running it as a stand alone machine, then to be quite frank you are wasting your time, because the extr bells and whistles on Adv Server are of no benifit to you

And if you are setting up a web server then u are looking at the wrong product alltogeter and fire up Linux

Curent sytem running atm win2000 Adv Server running 26 workstations on LAN with 15 external on a WAN via proxy link to Linux "dirty server" to web

Right i have tried this on 95, 98se and ME but not on 2000pro so it might not work

If your 3 gig NTFS partition is free and available then boot your server form the ADV server CDROM

make your NTFS partion the destination for the install
now you will get a load of messages from the install routine warning you that you are usng the wrong version and use the correct upgrade disk, ignore the warnings and just keep going by selecting continue, at some point it will ask do you want to replace your previos o/s , answer no and continue, (if you answer yes it goes into a cintinuous loop saying you have not got the correct version/upgrade disk) this should make it dual boot between the two
you can then copy/link over all your existing apps etc,

when happy this is done then delet the pro sys directorys and delete all the files (not folders) in the root of your origonal boot partition,

reboot the machine from the ADV server CDrom and do an install recovery, you will then have replaced 2000pro with ADV server

If u don't want to take the risk drop me a line and ill throw a machine together and try it first

This is presuming you are using the full version ADV server disks
