Theres a mention in another thread on here about camping, i'm just wondering if thats an issue in this game, and if it is why?
Personally I've never had a problem with objective based team games (as opposed to team DM style) of someone defending a particular area, for a long period of time. I like the challenge of taking them out..
But, some people, in fact a lot, seem have a problem with this, and would rather that player ran around like a headless chicken.
There were some claims of 'camping' in TFC when it first came out, but then an objective of the game was to stop the other team taking your flag - what better than a dedicated defence to stop them. There's a good chance that part of that defence will be static (is that camping?).
The same could be said of CS, and this. Is perhaps sniping from a well hidden area with a high probability of killing the enemy camping? Personally I will always think that its a valid tactic.
I was trying out the sniper on a server the other day, on the snow map, while defending, and was fairly succesful in keeping the enemy out or our buildings, or at least splitting them up when they made a group attack. Now I was defending that point for a good while, and basically got called a camper (first time ever for me :) ). Why? If it had been me on that team I would have tried to eliminate the sniper, rather than resort to a 'your a lame camper' jibe.
Anyway, I know this has been discussed before, but maybe for many of us this will be the first game where the player can go into a prone position, and the chances of being called a camping xxxx is pretty high.
But is it such a bad thing, where a major objective of the game is to defend?
