"Sir, our readings are showing something weird" the white coated lab scientist informed the suited man standing a few metres away from him "What is it, Doctor Savage?", "This is something we've never seen before........this could be something big....", "No, not another virus type digimon, we have enough problems as it is already" groaned the suited man. Dr. Savage replied "Whatever it is, it could be attempting a cross-dimensional jump to our world..." "Well, I see no other option but to send in the armed forces to settle......the 'matter'.." "But sir," Dr. Savage protested "The media has been getting awfully suspicious about all those US soldiers dissappearing, and what if the UN find out? What then?" "Don't you know how long we've known about the digiworld and how long we've been reasearching and exploring their technology, and most of all, how long we've kept this away from the public? We are not going to let a few army dissappearances get in the way of the greatest discovery ever, the discovery of a new dimension and all the possibilities it opens up.......I'd say it was a small sacrifice, when we sent in the troops into the digiworld.........it is only a few deaths and nothing else. Besides, what we don't tell the public can't harm them, isn't that right Dr. Savage?" "....Y-Yessir" Dr. Savage nervously said. "Anyway, I don't see what you have to be worried about. The soldier clones will be ready in a matter of hours. Now get back to work, I have other issues to deal with" and with that, the man walked out of the lab door, a black suitcase in hand.......

A young man walked through the narrow corridors in search for the administrator's office, his black leather trenchcoat slowly flapping about as he walked. The offices he went past were full of people going about their daily business, almost oblivious to his prescence. He eventually reached a door with the words 'Damian Blackman, administrator, United States Covert Investigation and Research Unit' and quickly tapped on the door. A faint voice spoke out from behind the wood "Come in" The man slowly turned the doorknob, opened the door and walked in. "Ah agent Denton, glad you could make it" "I had no problems sir" replied agent Denton. "Well now that you're here, we can discuss the matter of your forthcoming mission, Denton. No doubt you know about the existence of the digital world, our organization has known about the digital world for at least 10 years now. During this time, we have managed to research and develop new weapons technology for use in the digiworld. However, there is still a great deal about the digiworld that is still unknown...." Denton interrupted "That's where I...." "No agent Denton, that will come later. We are still sending in expeditionary forces into the digiworld......now.......is not a good time......Anyway, the last time digimon were seen in this world was seven years ago, we have information that another digimon attack could be on its way. Now this is where you come in." "You mean I have to 'neutralise' this threat?" "Of course. After this briefing, you will be equipped with your weapons. A 9mm handgun, an mp5 sub-machine gun, an M16 assault rifle and our new weapon, the U.S.C.I.R.U. digital laser cannon." Blackman typed into his laptop pc, turned it around so the screen was facing Denton. He looked at the picture of the weapon, faced Blackman again and said "Looks pretty, but what can it do?" "This 'pretty' weapon can wipe out scores of digimon at any given time. The weapon draws its energy from the digiworld and is excedingly powerful. You should be grateful that you have a weapon that could end a war in a matter of seconds" "Yes sir, thank you sir" muttered Denton, in a most sarcastic way. "You'll get your pistol after this briefing. The other weapons will be shipped to your new apartment in highton view terrace, Odaiba, Japan" "Odaiba...that's the place where that Myotismon incident took place, but that was over seven years ago.." "The reason why is because the digidestined are still living in Odaiba. If any virus types are gonna attack, you can be sure their first target will be the digidestined. You'll be needing this" Blackman reached into his desk drawer, pulled out a digivice and handed it over to Denton, "We've modified this so you should be able to track down the digidestined, but they won't be able to track you down.....and it serves as a handy watch as well", "That's nice to know.....but there's one thing I don't get. I understand about going to Japan and destroying this evil digimon, but what part have the digidestined got to play in this? Why do I have to track them down?" "When Myotismon and his evil digimon appeared in our world, it caused a lot of public hysteria, with all those giant monsters running round and destroying things. We worked damn hard to cover this incident up and this time, we can't afford let the public and the media get in on this, not at this time, when we are at a most important stage in our research. You must pacify this threat, and make sure nothing goes wrong", "Yes sir", "Good. Now get down to weapons and munitions and get your supplies. Here are the keys to your apartment", handing Denton a couple of brass keys, Denton stuffing them into his pocket. "And make sure you get some rest, it's gonna be a tough day tomorrow" Blackman added as agent Adam Denton walked out of Blackman's office and headed to the weapons and munitions department.

*Later*

"Sir, base unit alpha is under heavy attack!" Screamed the soldier from his comm-radio, "Most of our men are down, and we're running out of ammo! we need...." the last part of his sentence was drowned out by another soldier's screams of pain as he was ripped apart by the digimon....

"Sir, do you copy?"
No answer.
"Sir?"
Still no answer.

Only a few moments back, base unit alpha were walking in the weird landscape of the digiworld, nothing much was happening, and the soldiers were beginning to think that maybe this was nothing but a false alarm, when all of a sudden, the ground ripped up from beneath their feet and a monstrous digimon rose from the newly created hole, accompanied by several smaller digimon. The giant creature was a terrifying sight, razor sharp claws at the ends of its hands, a crazed look in its red eyes. The smaller creatures were much like the bigger creature, perhaps its mother. The soldiers put up a brave fight, but they were tragically outnumbered and outclassed. Still they kept on fighting, with the larger digimon seriously wounded and retreating back down the hole. The sergeant however, wouldn't rest until that thing was dead. He leapt down the ground opening. Problem was, he didn't return....

"sir I repeat do you hear me, over"
Silence was all that was heard from Jone's radio.
Just then, a crashing sound echoed out from the opening.
the soldier would have heard it, if he wasn't dead....

THUUUUDDDDD!
That was bad. And he felt it. That thing had put up quite a fight, and unless he found some medical supplies, his haemorrage was only going to worsen. But how could find medical assistance for a human being in a place like this? He was lucky he was still on his feet, with a broken right leg - but that would undoubtedly slow him down.

And the painkillers wouldn't last forever.

He looked down below. It was a 2 storey drop, but he was sure to survive. He floated down to the purplish surface and touched down without a scratch.

His quarry couldn't have gone very far, and the opening in what seemed like a cave was the logical place to begin searching...

A piercing, inhuman scream rang out from above caught his attention. Before he even had time to see what was up above, a scorching laser blast filled the room up with a blinding light. When he opened his eyes again, he was surprised to see that the large rock that was previously lying next to him was now nothing more than a small pile of dust.

Running as fast as his condition allowed him to, he charged into the cave opening, diving for cover just before another blast, the laser only just a few metres away from where he was lying. Reaching into his backpack, he pulled out a flashlight and quickly scanned the room for hostiles.

No-one was inside. Then the ground shook, dust of the unknown material that made up the cavern came down from above, and he moved a second too late as the entire roof crumbled, one of the rocks hitting him and pinning him down to the ground.

He tried to stand, but his legs were completely oblivious to his orders. He could only look up as a weird looking shape hovered above him, the piercing scream sounding once again.

Then another blast.

Pain was more than he could bear, as he looked to his right arm to see it wasn't there anymore. Blood instead, was splattered almost everywhere, the bloody stump that was previously his right arm, spurted out a steady stream of the red stuff and a single bone poked out from beneath the flesh.

He could barely understand that he was shrieking out very loudly, but then he slowly blacked out and he couldn't hear anything anymore...

"Sir, we've lost contact with the sergeant " Gasped Dr.Savage as he burst into Blackman's office, panting for breath. "GODAMMNIT!" Roared Blackman "Now what?" questioned Savage. "Well, if Denton fails.........we're all screwed. All of us" was all that Blackman had to say.

THE END
