don't forget the "super hedgehog" http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Other_CPU_and_System_Coolers_18.html#a101 for when you absolutely have to have maimum cooling and don't care about the noise (or the cost) ;)
I've got a Taisol heatsink and fan (the larger one) also from OCUK.
My 850 Tbird does 1GHz and idles at ~28 C. I'd recommend it if you want to save some money (its a lot cheaper).
Plus if you go to lans or move your pc a lot apparently the weight of the hedgehog can cause problems with its contact to the cpu.
I have my Duron 750 @ 1Ghz running a GlobalWin FOP38 cooler with some artic silver thermal compound, cooler and compound bought from OCUK also.
Cpu temp is 35C normal and 39C after a long gaming stint, well within safe limits. The FOP38 is one noisy mofo, so be prepared :)
1Ghz ain't bad outta a £90 motherboard (Soltek socket A with ATA100 etc) and a £70 CPU!
