best modem???

so which modem is the best? i'd like a modem which will give me a ping around a 120-140 ping (or lower, lower the better ;))and at a resonable price

As Brocken said get a diamond supra 56k ex got ! on tuesday and my ping whent from 320 down 2 150 straight out of the box . Does anybody know of any good tweeks 4 this modem ?

i think you can tweek them but if you go to http://www.lagless.com that will give you a better performance

the current modem i have got is a supraMAX 56i voice pci modem, is that good or crap??? should i get another newer one recommended above?

The newer 'Max' modems from Diamond are almost certainly all controler-less (software driven) modems which generally perform less well than fully hardware controler based modems, such as Diamond's 'Supra' range, when it comes to online gaming.

if u can find one, the best gaming modem is the pace 56 voice internal. only modem i know which can consistently give sub-100 ping in game (idle). my housemate has the diamond supraexpress external jobbie and I ping about 10-15ms less than him on average. however, with pace having gone bust last year, they will be hard to come by. best bet is probably find some1 who has upgraded to isdn/cm/adsl who wants to sell their pace.

failing that the diamond is ok
