INFORMATION: FLF INITIAL ADMIN TEAM.

OK guys..

Now think about the importance of this..

We have servers and some new ones on the way that are full up at peak times..
We have the 'crap heads' coming in from all over the place and.

The ADMIN team below will follow strict instructions and start looking after the servers tonight... (oooo errrr)

They will look after the servers when in game and make sure we don't let the little gits get away with anything..........;)

There will be no changing of maps or settings unless the majority of the server agrees to it and I mean that very much so.

I have chosen experienced ADMINS and not gone for the trainee types yet...
That will come later.. Once the CC is in place the ADMINs will belong to him/her and they will carry on etc etc..
My job is to set up the ADMINS and stop any crap going on in the servers whilst the rest of us set up what is looking
like a very promising community.:)

I had high hopes for this, and all the signs looked good, but now it looks like it'll be just another recycled CS community.

I'm not saying that any of these people will be bad at their job, far from it, but it would be nice to see some new names for a change. This all seems like a reinforcment of the clique. A f**king shame too.

In all honesty Tarbs, I couldn't really give a fig about being an admin. Been there, done that. Doesn't interest me at all any more.

As for what I could do for the community? I had a few ideas, but I can see now that they'd pretty much be wasted. Whats the f**king point, if most things are going to be writ in stone before anybody has a chance to change anything.

As for being part of the in crowd i find that offencive. Yes im a mod, yes ive been an admin but for a game that has a very small community and hardly any trouble (well we hav e our moments) but this is competly new to me. FLF already has a bigger community than SoF!

As Insane-Dave rightly pointed out when he retaliated to disparaging comments sent in his direction, this is Frontline Force, a brand new mod and as such, a brand new start for everyone involved.

You basically wrote this mod, and Wireplay to an extent off, based on your judgement of the admins. Umm...why, exactly? What have these admins done? This isn't Watergate, for the love of God, this is a game. The admins play the game just like everyone else, but occasionally deal with disputes. They do not go about ruining the game for other people...else they'd have been banned from Wireplay by now.

With all due respect, phatb0y, and I think the rest of this community can decide how much respect that is, Tarby has been doing this for a LONG time, and he knows what he's doing. He picked the best people for this job, and for the record, he did say that the INITIAL batch of admins would be established names. Do you ACTUALLY think it's a good idea to make the ONLY people with rcon a bunch of people with no experience whatsoever? You have to first get an experienced set of people in place, so that new blood can be trained. Without experience, who's going to train them and set the example for them?

Tarby's done a great job with the admins - can you honestly not see that, m8?

Personally, I think the admin list looks quite good. I know about 5 are old CS players, sounds like several are TFC'ers and hopefully there's a couple of new-ish faces.

A good mix, shouldn't they be given a chance before they're condemed? If there's a problem with an admin playing around, it can be solved quick enough (get Stikky to change the rcon password and mail it round to the rest), it's not as if anybody will have a "reign of terror" over the servers. In the words of good old John Lennon..... "give peace a chance" :)

I can back that, Devilman is one of the rudest and arragant ppl I have come across on wp. If any cares to differ then I have some irq logs with Devilman being incredibly rude to my girlfriend you might like to see.

Unfortunately Devilman has the talent of sucking up to the right ppl.

What wp have to realise is that the admin position puts the admins in direct contact with the ppl, theres ways to handle ppl and ways not to handle ppl. Previous experiance of admins (Mainly WP CS) is that they havent got the faintest idea of how to talk/handle ppl.

Firstly thanks for making me an Admin Tarbs.

I am 2Drunk2Funk on FLF and I DO know Tarbs as we are in the same DM Clan. I have been an Admin for DM for a year or more and recently for the OZ league.

I dont believe I was chosen because I'm an "old boy" m8 whatever but because I have experience at the job and have never (correct me if wrong :O ) let Tarbs down.

He knows I am very keen on FLF and want to help nuture the new community and help train if necessary any of the newbie admins who haven't used rcon yet :p

Tarbs does a grand job guys and stated (and repeated by others) that this is an initial list of admins to get us roling, I am sure it has a cross section of experience, newbies and players from other communities (DM,CS,TFC).
There is a strict set of rules for an admin role and believe you me anyone who over steps or abuses the power given will just as quickly lose that power.

Tarbs is a strict BUT fair guy and if you have any issues the discuss them, dont just flame him for getting us rolling re admins and more server.

to anyone detracting from the list ... like brain said, this is taking from people across the HL and other communities .. i can see phatboys point about bringing in new blood but the one major problem with that is that rcon in the wrong hands can complete feck up the servers and the game for the people on there at the time, causing them to leave and play elsewhere .. mud sticks .. in the same way that wireplay CS is looked on in a bad way because of some poor admining and some massively overstretched admins ... gladly these problems have been overcome and the community over there is starting to get a lot better and the servers a lot more enjoyable.

This can't be allowed to happen here .. an abundance of admins was what was needed imo, but as they all have the potential to wreck the servers i don't think tarby could just pick complete strangers to do it .. hence the need for most of them to have experience and therefore less likely to screw things up (not a guarentee).

He even said that this was only till everything is settled and then some new people would be introduced to help out where needed.

Just because they are admins doesn't mean they control everything, some of the people have posted various new ideas on here that have been considered by the commnity as to how good they are .... these would not be ignored by whoever ends up as the main team of admins as it would defeat the object of them being admins.

I for one wouldn't mind stepping down once the initial developments are setup so that new people can come into it where they haven't done things like this before, as i'm sure the majority of the admins on that list would. The idea is to help the community not go on some personal power trip, and i find that personally insulting that everyone is tarred with the same brush. Any power trippers will be removed as tarby has said and it's everyone elses job in the community to make sure that they don't abuse their power rather than just knock them before even giving them a chance.

Everyone that wrote their name down on the list did so because they want to help out, how people can be knocked for wanting to help others is beyond me ..

Besides admins come and go like erm.. trains. Take a look at this admin list 2 months from now and chances are a third of them will have been replaced (hell, I might be part of that fraction. Who knows?). It's by no means final and imo the selection seems very promising.

'New comers' will get a chance i'm sure in the not too distant future. Sorry but you're certainly over dramatising things phats and I strongly disagree with you.

It's a hell of a lot better than when TFC started on Wireplay with half of them admins coming from AK47 seemingly.

oh and i'd like to add that public rcon shouldn't be given to just anyone who asks. Choosing initially only experienced admins from other mods/communities is the right thing to do as they have experience and have shown that they can be trusted. To do otherwise would have been highly irresponsible on Tarbs' part. When applications become open again then 'new comers' who have proved that they are mature (through clan play, forum posting, irc) will get a stab at being an admin.

Dunno probably to get an application form. It looks at a quick glance to be put your details on this post and get made an administrator. I wouldn't want most of the people on that list incharge of my hardware as I only know Sidekick from our Q3F clan.

Of course I have listened to the concerns and I have jotted it all down on my little pad next to my pute...

This community is not made up of half life history and we are not going to stick in our little groups.... I have met some bloody nice peeps over the last two weeks..

The ADMIN team that I have set up have so far done the job well. There have been no complaints and there have been no **** ups with settings.
They dont have to do anything anyway, only when 'Tommy 14 year old' comes in the server and starts pissing people off..

The real test will be when the ADMINs are in charge of games.. But then the will have been filtered further by the new CC...

Its all history and thats where the apprehension has come from..

one thing i can point out is that the admins on CS arnt enough at all ive been into the IRC channle many times asking for admins and only ever manadged to get one about 1/4 times asking its not very effective. is there goona be a site that lists the details of the Admins and also ICQ status it would be good if the people have it set so you can check there status from a web site this way every one doesnt have to add them to there ICQ list and makes it easier to see whos about. this way if peeps dont have IRC they can still raise them.
