Hi all (again ;) )
This time im having trouble with lighting. Today I had my first attemp at building (part) of a TFC map. This is the first time I have tried in WC 3 (previous attempts at HL mas in WC 2.1 worked fine) but when I came to adding textured light this is what I got

Does anyone know how to fix this
Thanks in advance,
Odd

My eyes....dear God, what is that map? j/k :P

Not quite sure what your problem is - odd lighting I assume? Textured lighting not working? You need to look for the "lights.rad" file. Open it up in Notepad, and you should see something like this (this is fromone of my lights.rad files):

If you want, you can copy-paste that into your own file, save you some time if this is what the problem is. Basically, the first part is the texture name (eg +0~GENERIC65); the first 3 groups of numbers are RGB, or Red Green Blue settings, which determine the colour of thelight, and the final number is the brightness of the light. You can edit to lights.rad to add any texture lights which aren't present in your own lights.rad

Hope this helps.

Heres the problem -

When WC 2.1 upward is installed, it installs the proper lights.rad as a file called valve.rad

the lights.rad it installs contains one entry

SO, what you do is

Rename lights.rad to oldlights.rad
Open it in a text editor, and copy the entry to the clipboard
Open valve.rad, and paste in the entry from oldlights.rad ( formerly lights.rad )
Then, save the edited valve.rad as lights.rad - and thats your problem fixed.
Da da!

Download WC3.3 you monkee

Anyways, your lighting obviously is working, hence the shadows. If the only source of light in your map is that textured block, then everythings fine and you don't need to fiddle around with your lights.rad file. Also, aaatrigger (the pink texture you've used on the wall) sometimes is lit funnily (depending on your compiler)- I suggest using a different texture (try one of the "fifties" textures instead?) and see how it comes out.

I seem to remember theres a specific use for aaatrigger, and that its not meant for normal usage, ie walls an stuff.

AAATrigger is used for some func_entities that are invisible (like the ladder enitity)

You can use it for whatever purpose you wish, but the best bet is for invisible brush based entities (such as triggers) so you know that they're not walls/objects etc.

light messes up when you put a light entity in an entire room made form AAAtrigger looks like a dodgy light show gone wrong....ohh err. try putting other textures in the room not put AAAtrigger in
