Are new alcatel drivers out yet for usb modem

1.3 version is avaliable here, but it isn't the English version. It is only a benefit if you have windows ME or 2000. I would recommend waiting until the english version is avaliable, otherwise do this:

1) extract the file to a temp folder.
2) get the v.1.2.2 driver cd and copy the phonebook.ini file on the cd to the
temp folder where new drivers are. eg c:\new folder\phonebook\phonebook.ini
3) disconnect modem, install new drivers choosing repair/replace option
4) restart
5) plug in modem
6) Away you go

heres what Alcatel told adslguide.org.uk

"When we e-mailed Alcatel to ask if we could let users download their new Windows ME-compatible drivers from ADSLguide whilst they are in the process of putting the final touches to their website, we never expected to be told that if we (or any other site, including BT) publish those drivers, they will "take legal action if this happens". Their defense is that apparently that our visitors (amongst the rest of the Alcatel users) are confused about different driver versions. "

And alledgedly the drivers posted above have a bug when using WIN98. the official ones are due for release early next week.

The win 98 driver have always been out, it is only ME that has problems.

Or are the 1.3 drivers for Win2k and ME only?

All driver versions are supposed to work with WIN95 and WIN98 and WIN ME and WIN2000. I'm not sure about WIN NT as it has dodgy (or no) USB support.

However, version 1.2.2 (the version used by virtually everyone) has a problem with WIN 2000 multiple processors and WIM ME when shutting down.

The "beta" leaked V1.3 drivers work with all the above OS's but alledgedly have a bug when using WIN 98.

The official V1.3 should work with all the above OS's and should fix the problems with WIN2000 and WIN ME and work OK with WIN 98.

Bottom line is....stick with the drivers you have now then install the V1.3 drivers when they are offically released this week. No doubt a link to the new drivers will will be posted here, or check with your ADSL ISP.
