Hi,

I was quite disapointed with these DVDs.... TBH i felt that other than the commentarys, they were not that good at all.

Even the quality wasnt up to that much....

What do ya reckon Buffettes ????

Well i know that compaired to some other dvd's the quality is not that great, but you have to remember that this is a tv show that was not really expected to be that popular and it was only shot on 30mm film. Also it was shot for TV so u were never gonna get an anamorphic transfer. I suggest that you borrow the vhs sets off of a friend and realise how much sharper even a average dvd is than vhs. The extra's ill agree are a bit thin on the ground, but i liked the commentary and the others were fairly interesting, anyway i bought this for the episodes and the extra's were a bonus. All in all im very happy with it.

I'm going to agree with Ruskins on this :) Though it would have been nice to have had a audio commentary on more episodes, including some of the cast too :)

I think they did the best that they could with the source material regarding picture quality ..
having said that I was a bit disappointed when the first scene came on - v.grainy .. Seemed to get better in the later episodes, or was it just me?

Still good stuff tho - didn't get the vids, been waiting for the discs, so i'm not complaining :E

being a silly person... I have both :)

I'd recommend getting the DVDs over the videos... but if you have the vids already don't buy the DVDs, unless like me you feel dirty if there is new buff material out there that you haven't got.

I simply have to purchase them... I need help :{

I was a bit dissapointed with the DVD box set but overall they are well worth buying over the vhs set. (got both)

The convenience of DVD and better picture quality, plus the albeit meagre extras make it a far better option than the videos.

Ruskins is correct about the picture quality, TV shows do not transfer as well to dvds as movies do. Check out the stargate dvds and you will see the same problem, a grainy transfer. That being said it is still far better than vhs so go out and buy up Buffy, cos shes hottest on that little disc :E

The picture quality does appear to improve towards the later episodes, so hopefully the second season should be a bit better :)

Its not too bad.
Quality is so so as with all Fox DVDs. Commentary being the best extra, Some cast commentaries would have been nice. The episode guide booklet thing is also a good read.
Some out-takes would have been nice though or even deleted scenes as Joss says a lot of the first epsisode were re-done after they finished shooting the whole of the 1st series.
