Fave type of government

So everyone, whats your favourite ruling ideal, Democracy, Fundamentalism, etc, whats YOUR fave

Mine is communism, as there is stupid senate to interrupt the roll of my iron war machine across enemy territory

I suppose it depends on your circumstances...

Anarchy - Evil is found in Anarchy :) Caused by a collapse of Government or when you want a revolution this will do nothing to help your Civilization, always fun to visit your advisors at this time too :E

Despotism - Only better than Anarchy, as its slightly more efficient and money and research is actually conducted but a waste of time otherwise.

Monarchy - Despotism is pretty much obsolete once you get this type of Government available, it removes restrictions on production of goods (food shields trade) and allows better efficiency.

Republic - Republic is ok for peace time (tho I never use Republic) but you still get Corruption and Waste. I suppose its a lower form of Democracy, though it is less restraining with a 50% chance of being overruled by the senate and needing 2 units to leave a city to make someone unhappy.

Communism - Small levels of Corruption and Waste, this society is probably the advanced form of Monarchy, as it has no restraints and works in pretty much the same way.

Democracy - Democracy has no corruption and waste and bonus trade is produced in the squares where trade is already produced, and massive growth can be acheived on we love the ... days. It is no use however, to you as a war type Government as you are forced to make peace (unless you have the UN) all the time, also can be difficult to police the towns as military units can not act as police.

Fundamentalism - Perfect for when you want an army and have finished your research, with no unhappy citizens ever, and tithes produced by structures that normally keep people content this government can produce you a lot of money. Also with the fanatic unit never requiring support, no matter how many you build you can certainly cause havoc by using this Government. The major downfall is the huge retardation occuring in research.

So then, my favourite?

Well, I've pretty muched ordered them in the in terms of like, the most liked being Fundamentalist, and least liked being Anarachy. However the route of Governments I take is usually this:

Despotism -> Monarchy -> Democracy -> Communism -> Fundamentalism

Thus concludes my analysis :P

I go for Monarchy as soon as I can and build up a concrete power base. I then change to Democracy and expand, research and generally make the world a better place. Then, when all the tree is completed, I change to fundementalism and mop them up. To be honest, if you play it properly as a democracy, you can win by getting to alpha centauri - but wiping everyone out is far more fun!!
