Hmmmmm i would think top 3 go through on the FFA but i dunno =/
PU should be OFF on 1v1 and ON for FFA IMO.

I think the PU's should be off in both contests. PU's just force people to camp......

hiya all

Not sure on the pu, will confirm for tomorrow. At last Aprils tournament I believe they were off in all rounds.

The number to go through from the FFA depends entirely on the number of contestants that arrive on the day. In April, there ws 256 contestants and the highest frags throughout the first round went through. Therefore in some cases, finishing 1st in your group did not mean getting through to the next round. This was using rules governed by The OGA and we did receive some complaints on the day about this. It is changing to allow the top 1-3 (depending on overall numbers) from each group to go through (like our November tournament that Dougal won).

The issue with this rule though is that seeding becomes important, as you dont want the best 6 players in the same 1st round group!

And we all know how interesting a concept that becomes!!!

Seeding at Lanarena will become more open and heavily used next year, as the amateur and professional leagues commence around the country. We already have 20 venues across the UK signed up for the Jan leagues that commence on 8th Jan. These are a 3 month testing trial for the main leagues that commence in April 2001. This will involve amatuer local LAN leagues that will feed into pro leagues with gamers representing their town and playing against other towns over an exclusive VPN.

Keep an eye on the website for more details in the next few weeks, and a glimpse of it in PC Gamer's next issue.

Please remember what lanarena stated at the beginning of the year, 2000 was to be a trial and testing ground for tournaments and leagues that will take off in 2001 and become the norm by 2002. Not just at Lanarena's 20 or so venues by then, but at all participating venues - such as Quark's, Wireworld, Sierra Hotel and may others that no doubt have yet to be opened.

c u on thursday

Hey u mention seedings..
Dont suppose u are using the last tourneys (november one) positions and ranking those players?
Anyway Dougal is obviously no.1 so far :)

And what happens about the ppl flying over from germany..
mTw|Ulath, and mTw|Horny for example.
I know there at least another 2 as well.

Are these not UK leagues and tourneys?
Then the winners go on to play them at a proper EU one?

Just a thought anyway :)

Cya there! :P

In April it was not the highest frags that went through.... It was the top 2 from each round.
The power-ups were on as well.
Tempest was a camp-fest round the SB.

Oh... and Merry Christmas
My head hurts :(

But camping SB doesnt get u the most frags in DM..
I prefer wandering everywhere :)

And btw, with powerups off, there is ever more camping!

November tourney, 16 man gothic was played, I camped on the minigun the whole time, getting most of my frags by killing enforcer ppl lol

With powers on at least u must move around to try to get them.

Erm... only 16 people in the 2nd round? (I hope my maths are right)
That means either hardly anybody has registered or a lot of people are being knocked out in round 1. ie only winner from group of 6 goes through.
Is this going to be like April and they introduce another FFA round 2 before going onto 1v1?

ah.. who cares. It'll be fun no matter what! :)

ps. who's taking a snowplough with them?

Round 2 was just for the losers in round 1, only 1 person went through from this FFA for the final place in the actual 1v1 round 2.

Nobody actually camped the SB when the matches were played. It was just where everybody accumulated. If you wanted to kill anyone you had to go to SB room.

Camping the armor would be far more efficient in FFA, cause you get 100 armor every 28.5 seconds and not 150 armor every 55 seconds. But if it`s about frags, not efficiency, camping weapons/spawns and timing the amp is a lot better than camping some defensive item.
