I got the game for chimbo.....
im fully updated for ac etc
just one slight problem
I load up the game from my desktop
get to that server choice screen..
pick a server - then when AC has loaded - my net connection stops responding - no packets going in or out..
then irc/icq etc all disconnects and finaly the net connection does.. anybody know what it is and how to stop it? ;(

Zone Alarm.
Switch it offfffff b4 u play and if that dont work, check your ISP and Graphics card (possibly modem too)

I dont have a firewall or any kind of thing that blocks netports
I ave ISDN
tryed 3 diffrent isps @ 64k and 128k
My graphics card does **** it up
so I disabled it..
but that shouldnt cause my net connection to die?

Right .. try this then.. its a pain I know..

1) Try the game WITHOUT ANY other applications.. this means close ICQ (The main prob).. IRC.. EVERYTHING that is non-essential.
1a) If that works try the game again and again with one more file running than last time until youu find out what the program is
1c) Make mental note to close that proggy and aweh you go.. and dont forget IRC + ICQ cause LAG.

If that doesnt work:
2) Reinstall the game and re-run the patch (which you would have been wise to downlaod and mebbe burn to a CD)

If THAT doesnt work:
3) Reinstall the game and re-download the patch

And finaly, if THAT dont work:
4) Try it on a mates computer...

And if everything goes face first...
5) Trade it back in and get a new game.. wouldnt want you to miss out but if you cant get it to work its a waste (dnt forget the account bit)

Ive tried re-installing etc
I think its somthing do with windows locking out the net connection when the program is loaded
ive also tried closing everthing except the game and the zone thing which U need to connect to it..
so im quiet f00k3d really :/
and it didnt do it on a m8s computer but he was running 98 first edition and im on winme
i dunno
help :(

Running out of ideas here..
er..
Get latest drivers for yer 3d card.. if youve got 32 meg Ram or less I suggest you get more, if you have a voodoo 3 turn off mipmap dithering (display options 3dfx), reinstall the modem, get a good ISP. Bleh. I feel for yah, yer missing t on the fun, and whatever ye do dont turn to EVERQUEST, 'tis skummeh compared to ASHERON'S CALL, even EQ players have said so :)Ooh, also try virus checkers/system tweakers like Noron (poor example I know) etc..

When u start AC, and u get the menu, go to settings and set it to "Set ip derived from IP address" or something like that, might help :)
