I'm using the above for Quake3: Arena. I'm a complete newbie for map design, but I'm really interested in doing something other than play it [:)].
I've created a test map. No problem there.
Infact, everything just works fine.
I create a map, I use GtkBuild 2.0 plugin [with patchfix to register the new .dll correctly] and then I can play the map just fine.
However, what I cannot understand is the light source part of the map build.
No matter what I do, where ever I put a "light" in the map [with a 300 or 150 setting], making absolutely sure it is IN the map room itself - I get a map that has no light source, but is removed of all it's light setting so it kind of looks like a bleached landscape.
I can only surmise that this means the light build is not working, even though a BSP file is created [when I use v-light, it can't find PRT? I don't see this in the manual].
However, I did check through the process, and sure enough, "1 light processed...".
So my light is there, but the map still looks like a bleached carpet.
Anyone help here?
I have a seriously powerful PC, so I don't think it's a memory problem [and besides, I use a .vbs script to free up memory anyway if it did].
