Ok I decided to reformat and start fresh for the New Year.
I am running Windows ME and everything went fine except for one small thing.

I have a 13.5 gig IBM HD and I had it partitioned into 'two' drives.
9 gig and 4.5 gig.

I ran fdisk and deleted the partitions before formatting.

Now my C drive only shows up as 9 gig in size and I am missing the other 4,5 gigs.

Any idea, at all, how I can recover the rest of that space...other than reformatting again?

Please please please help me if at all possible.

Thank you.

Happy New Year.

Strange problem - only think I can think of is that the other 4.5GB of space is in an extended partition, without any logical drives within that extended partition.

Go back to FDisk (from a bootdisk) and try creating a new logical partition of maximum size. Hopefully you'll find your space again.

Thanks,

Chris

Good idea Blobbo and this should hopefully work.

Failing this, then it might be an idea to get hold of a program like Partition Magic (http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/) which manages disk partitions 'on the fly'. Great piece of software and easy to use.

Good Luck!

You must have deleted your two logical partitions but not the extended patition which contained the 2nd logical one.

You'll need to delete this with a different menu option in fdisk - Delete non DOS partition or something then repartition.

If you've already installed Windows you can do this with Partition magic without having to reinstall.
