Right, id thought id post this today as i was pretty annoyed last night and it wouldnt have been a very nice post.
I just want to clarify up this situation.
I was drawn against -X-Mister in the first round, after playing him the night before on the same setup and winning some of our practise games i knew it would be close.
I waited and watch the first set of people warm up in the first round for about 15 mins before they played, so this put somthing in my head that having to re-configure your system every time would actully need to be tested on a map to check everything is right before you play.
So, we were called down. I sat at this PC and it just started off with errors, everyone else had happily set up their PC's and were just about to go test them. But i had an annoying curser set in the middle of the screen which wouldnt go away, so restarted UT... ok it went. Then was the next problem, i have no idea why but someone had set the PC to Direct3D on a Voodoo5.. See the problem ? So i changed it, and approached from behind i heared a voice "What you doing, why you messing with the graphics card" in this cocky tone. So i politly told the man and he mumbled and walked off.
.... eventully i got that sorted and started setting up, i finally got a basic set up done and jumped into the server, word was going round on my line (FB|Steel, me, Dougal..) that it was warmups so i jumped in and clicked to start. i spent the first 6 or 7 minutes jumping about changing settings getting the odd frags in and dying a bit just warming up... The admin behind was even watching me and never said a word. About 2 mins till the end i was told by a shocked dougal that it was real, dougal being 1 down thinking it was warmup too played like a bitch to get a lead and win... but me? being 13 - 3 down didnt have a chance in hell against a good player like mister... it eventully ended 13 - 7.
Now this is where the fun began, Public relations, does this mean anything to 'the man in blue' saying no names.
I approached him afterwards and queryed why i wasnt told and said that i assumed this was a warmup, all i got was an arrogant look and 2 sentances...
"What was the score?"
..."13 - 7"
then he turned to the admin who was sitting behind me and saw that i was just warming up and said "Thats the result."
He then just turned his back and walked off, with the helpless admin shrugging his shoulders.
So i went upstairs to query it with the others. Things were said and arguments such as the following :-
"We were told".
Well our row (me dougal steel) were not 'tapped on the shoulder' or anything of the like.
"Does your opponent want to replay"
Of course he wont, gladly he was a clanmember and a mate so no arguments formed, but he won! of course he aint gonna wanna replay.
Those are my points, even though in my opinion the decision was unfair, it was at least met with some courtasy from 2 of the LA directors Vik and Domi, but the 3rd ? o my.
I helped a lot of the top players get over here by booking for them etc, vik will know this, and it would have been nice to actully be treated with a bit of respect instead of spoken too like a school kid by an 'Im always right' school teacher.
Well thats my say, thanks to Domi and vik for being so nice and listining, but i just feel my point wasnt taken in.
