About 3 monthsa ago i got a duron 600 and new mobo/case etc
same time i bought a 300W PSU but now i think that this is not enuf....i just got a CDRW drive and when i hooked it up alongside my normal CD drive the whole system went into SSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWWWWWMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
this not good. I have taken off my CD drive (the cdrw can read and everything) but i am now thinking of buying a new PSU
1) would this solve my problem (i thinking of getting a 430W PSU)
2) is this one ne good? Enermax EG451P 431W ATX Power Supply Specs (http://www.enermax.com.tw/products/eg-351p-ve.htm)
3) from the spec page, is it me or do the PSU's come with 6 5.25 power connectors??? this would be cool
ta for ne help

i would doubt it's a power problem, you would be more likely to suffer from intermittant crashes (for example it might crash when playing a game on the net, but would be fine whilst just surfing or playing the game).
more likely a driver problem or a hardware conflict at a guess.
is it as slow with just the cdrw in?
when both drives are in can you use both?
are the master/slave jumpers set correctly on the drives?
defo not psu....its probably some sort of conflict......try turning dma off from drive properties for both drives...
also can we have the make of ur 2 cd drives
:)

thnx for the quick reply (just saved me helling out about £100 on a PSU :E)
answers to your questions
-when both drives are in i CAN use both of them but as i said it is deathly slow :(
-it is not slow when just the CDRW drive is in
-Not sure if the jumpers are set correctly (only ever had 1 drive in at a time so had no need to change em :()
-Makes of the Drives
Creative 2422E (normal CD Drive)
Samsung SW-208 (CDRW)
hopefully that's some more help to u
i'm off to try and change the jumpers and turn DMA off :)
