HISTORY.
Skateboarding started in the late 50's early 60's by surfers who were pissed off coz there werent any good waves. The got somewheels, and their surf board, and bang, skating was invented. It went all uphill then becuase of the skate movie "skater dater" that was put out and introduced skating to the world.
Around the early seventies, The populartiy of skating went downhill. No one really knows why but it just did. Then in the early 80s it picked up again when people started to drain out pools and skate them as bowls. Skating was alive again.
In thelate 80s skating got a lot more technical (Not ramp or bowl, grind bars and street things) and that got it going a lot.
Up to now, skating has been a kind of popular sport around the world and has grown a considerable amount since tony hawks pro skater came out.It is an American dominated sport but that doesnt mean to say that its not popular around the world.

TYPES OF SKATING
There are two main ones
VERT: a ramp (up and down, up and down). bowls are based around them. you can get mini and full sized
STREET: Things like grind poles, handrails, kicker ramps, stairs, ledges and anthing you would find on a normal street.
