Please help , details as follows:
In the begining of Sept 2000 I bought a new motherboard (GA-6VXC7-4X , VIA 694X Chipset) and P3 700 processor , now have recently bought a new Geforce2 GTS card and have found a problem.
I have set the BIOS for 4x AGP , but using programs they tell me my AGP is only 2x.I searched the Gigabyte website and found this in the FAQ of my mobo model(Someone else has the same problem well ALL 694 CHIPSETS):
Q17. My 6VX7-4X can't support 4X AGP? Utility like PCIList or SiSoft Sandra indicates my Geforce card is only running at 2X?
A17. This is due to limitation with the current VIA 694X based chipsets, when running AGP 4X on these motherboards. There has been instability observed on it. Therefore current release of the NVidia reference drivers (version 5.30 and above) have all been set to run at AGP 2X when VIA 694X chipset based motherboards has been detected.
What are my rights? I mean if I can't run my card at 4x then surely I have good reason to return my board and exchange for a more apropriate one? (THE PRODUCT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE PERFORMANCE TO WHICH I WANTED)
I have not been back to the shop yet , as I have just found this out , and I don't want to go charging in there with no hope!
Please please help...A BIG THANKYOU AWAITS.
