Right just started overclocking and read my web sites first,

I have Duron 750
Abit KT7
128mb sdram100

I tired changing the multiplier to user defined 8x, but it still boots at 750, I read somewhere you have to unlock something physically on the chip? I dont want to mess with that.

I can change the FSB to say 101 or 102, how far to you guys go? but dont understand the FSB of the ram, should I up this aswell? I only have SD100 ram.

In the abit monitor program the chip runs at 30 degrees system 27degrees, what to you push it too? The chip fan goes at 4964RPM, but it doesnt register for system fan, is this the abit fan on the motherboard or for an extra fan?

anyways a new duron 700 is only £50 so I want to burn this baby ;)

(well I would prefer not to)

Have a look at the 'bible' in my siggy below :stare: as it contains some of the answers you need to know.

If your CPU hasn't been 'unlocked' all you need is a good pencil, a steady hand and a keen eye to connect the 'L1 Bridges' together on top of the CPU. However, you have to make sure you do this correctly! I'm at work at the mo' so don't have the relevant URL's that will help :(

Will post later tonight :)

Aye like the boss says you've gotta unlock the chip. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to overclock mine - I've tried adding a phat 300watt PSU, the bridges are most certainly joined and seperate from each other but she still won't overclock ;(

yea I dont fancy the "pencil trick" esply as you hear about so many chips breaking when they removed. I might try and get one of the conducting pens.

anyways I got it to 788mhz that will do for now

Hello mate........ As for the pencil trick, it sounds difficult but it couldn't be easier. If you are worried about breaking the cpu pencil in the bridges while its still in the motherboard ( you may have to take the motherboard out of the case to be able to see the bridges properly).

Secondly you want to have a big fan, and I mean a big big fan for when you clock it because these things produce some serious heat.

And on a final note you want a nice big juicy power supply to feed it with lots of power.

I myself have a Duron 650 ( self unlocked - as I said it was easy) and i found the following

230w PSU - works up to 850
250w PSU - works up to 850 ( will get to windows at 900 and crash)

300w PSU - can we say 1000 mhz from 650mhz?? :)

Trust me the unlocking of the cpu is easy ( I used a 2b pencil and it worked a treat)

If you got any other ideas about it let me know..... but its worth it for the speed increase...... I havent tried any higher yet ( just want to make sure that it runs nice and stable and above all..... nice n cool :) )

Cheers
