Fire up resource meter from
Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Resource Meter
and then start your progs one by one to see whats eating it so quickly. Dreamweaver and Fireworks (from what I can gather) are a bit resource hungry.
Have you checked your Virtual Memory settings ? Best to let Windows sort these out.

or your could force the virtual mem... a guideline I was told was 1.5* your memory - so about 350Mb of virtual should do the trick...
ALSO... make sure that the virtual mem is using the right HDD... a while back I had partitioned my HDD so that I had a small partition with windows on it and a large with everything else. Windows then decided to use c: for the virtual memory which really fecked everything up since there wasn't much free whereas as soon as I told it to use D (with 25Gb free) it was fine!
