Sad Moment......

....but as this is my 2000th post (in over TWO years....take note Bat*21!) to these noticeboards I wanted to just thank (almost) everyone for their support since I took over as Club Captain in May 2000.

Within a matter of a few weeks of me agreeing to do this job, we went open and suddenly had to contend with many people from overseas, many whom didn't (and still don't) understand the etiquette with which we play this beautiful game. We also had all the problems with the transition from WP2.3 to WP3, which was hardly enjoyable and caused significant problems for most of us. On top of that, going open also invited the hoards of idiots that have seen fit to try and drag our game to appalling lows. We lost a few squadrons through this time as well, DOH readily springing to mind as a major casualty.

Yet, despite all this, the majority of us remain, we now enjoy the company of many new pilots with great spirit and attitudes. We have committed admins, particularly Hazlo (hats off to him....got to be said), putting themselves out to great lengths to keep the marauding troublemakers at bay and succeeding. We have great people running events for us, like IJ, StPeter and the unpaid stars like SgtHomer and JJ who put a lot of their time into historical events and training. Cooger and his relentless efforts to be involved, with the AAW and Gibson21. Feathers and his efforts to have reliable referees (keep trying mate..I believe!) and SonicYoof with his unthanked work in keeping our website afloat. We have friends from the USA, Australia and Germany getting more involved in our squadrons and events. We have a CL that despite being a miserable bast much of the time ;), cares more about this game than most of you realise. The CO's, all of them, striving for success and training rookies in their squads.....wanting fairplay and enjoyment.....and generally getting it.

The game is growing in it's numbers of players, despite the problems and this is down to you all, the ones that care, love the game like me, and refuse to allow it to die. The idiots are receding, the good guys are winning. The game is generally on the up and I will continue to help you all as best I can carry that trend forward.

No doubt, there will be further changes to the format of AA, with subscription services a strong possibility sometime soon and even changes in the way we interact with the game (ie WP3). There will be further bridges to cross and hurdles to jump, but we've been through *much* worse in the past. Remember this time last year? No AA? I bloody do.

Keep up the good work all, spread the gospel, enjoy the game and stick with it.

We also had all the excitement of the transition from WP2.3 to WP3, which was very enjoyable and caused no problems for me anyway. On top of that, going open also invited the hoards of nice people that have seen fit to try and bring our game to new highs. We lost a few squadrons through this time as well, DOH readily springing to mind which was a major bonus.

Yet, despite all this, the majority of us remain, we now tolerate the company of many new pilots with a lack of spirit and attitude. We have admins that were committed, particularly Hazlo (hats off to him....hows the straight jacket), putting themselves above the law to keep the marauding good guys at bay and succeeding. We have tossers ruining events for us, like IJ, StPeter and the overpaid stars like SgtHomer and JJ who put a lot of their egos into historical events and training. Cooger and his relentless efforts to be involved (take the hint muppet), with the AAW and Gibson(I'm calm)21. Feathers and his efforts to have unreliable referees (good going mate..I believe!) and SonicYoof with his overthanked and shoddy work in keeping our porn website afloat. We have friends from the USA, Australia and Germany getting more involved in our squadrons and events. We have a CC that despite being a miserable bast much of the time , doesn't cares much about this game as you'd all realise. The CO's, all of them, striving for failure and bashing rookies in their squads.....wanting unfairplay and hugging.....and generally getting it.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who had faith in us - we told you we'd get it running smoothly one day, and thanks to Rocky and especially Mac with thier mamoth efforts and endless passion for something greater themselves.

You guys should be commended (more like commited) for the work and endless frustrations you've had to put up with. If it werent for you Im 100% certain that AA would've died a slow death with all the hassles we've had over the years, but strong people in the right positions can bring people together and keep things alive :)

Its always being discussed apparently, something was supposed to be announced a while back and wasn't. There are lots of changes happening within Gameplay right now so it's difficult to be certain exactly what format the future will hold, but a return to subs is defintely one of the major options from what I am told.

Remember, not subs for AA, subs for Gameplay's total service including AA. May never happen, it may happen tomorrow.........cross each bridge as we reach it eh?
