View Full Version : Castaway 2000
Does anyone agree with me that the BBC's Castaway will probably destroyed the minds and egos of each member of the Taransay community.
This is because life for them on a tiny tranquil island with 38 other people and now the project has ended they will crash down with one mighty crash after returning to life in the fast lane.
I think it is sensible that Ben and one of the couples are looking for properties for sale on any other islands.
One couple has even bought their own pod for £30,000 to keep in their backgarden!
I am currently reading the book.
I agree, it would be very difficult to return to nomal life after a year of absence. I suppose they'll take a few weeks out, then gradualy get back into their daily reutine. I'm sure it'll affect the children the most, having to return to school, making your friends all over, meeting all the new teachers, catching up on what their calsses have been learing(May be different from what they were learning).
was castaway supposed to be a rival for shipwrecked on c4?
cuz if it was it kinda failed
shipwrecked: they end up on a tropical island, having to live off the land:), living in little shacks that they make on their own.
castaway: they go to some island by scotland, get rained on a lot live in nice houses and i saw it once and they popped back over to the mainland to do some shopping FFS!
cheaters=/
I hated everyone on castaway and everyone on big brother.........but thats what made both shows so clever. Would you like to share a house/island with any of them, personally I'd probably have ended up killing them all...but you couldn't help watching them!:shakin:

Surely there is a lot more TV to come from Castaway? There didn't seem to be much for a year long project.
I liked what I saw, but would have liked to see more of how they changed from fighting non-stop in the early days to loving each other at the end of the year.
hmmmm a lot of the turf off the pods roofs went missing as the year went on.......hmmmm lot of rollups being smoked hmmmm :smokin:

Shipwrecked and Castaway aren't really all that alike. With Shipwrecked everything was there that they needed and they weren't there for very long - hell, they were allowed to go to a neighbouring island to get food and recieved frequent supplies anyway.
Castaway was about starting a community on an island - from the ground up. Lets face it, if the teen-angst-ridden 'babes' and 'hunks' (except the obvious 'comedy characters' that the production team let in) that were selected to be on Shipwrecked were left on a Scottish Island and told to build their own homes in the wind/rain/snow/meningitis they'd have buggered off back to blighty after the first night.
