KTF League and Special Event - Thoughts?

hmmmmmmm,

Right, my oh-so-lovely CO wants a KTF league :)

As much as i wanted to just hide the idea away (me dont want to do more work :E ) its actually a good idea so what do u think?

Thing is, for squads that go out straight away, like tigers tonight (played Godz), one KTF game a year is a tad harsh, as its such good fun.

Do you lot want a KTF league?

KTF SPECIAL EVENT:

OK, my idea so i cant blame anyone this time!

4 squad, 3 flags per side, a ref a side that only records what their team scores, general chaos.

Good idea/bad idea, would you play in it?

The normal one evening, two hour game affair, details to be finalised.

Strongly in favour of both m8, but especially the league. IMHO, most leagues beat most cup/knockout-style events. KTF is a brilliant format, we really should see more of it.

Agree with Pants on this, K/Os are fine, but they dont allow for off nights, squad problems, connection problems.
Leagues smooth out the ripples. Gonna be a swine to sort out
the rotation schedule. Everyone moving one right is ok unless you get a situation where team A is behind Team B, and are equal in skill. For example, what happened to us at the hands of Tempests in the 4squad8. We won the 1st 1/4, then Tempests who were anti-clockwise of us one position, had SU,GB and GE to blast us with for next 3 parts.

i'll think about that problem, the 'move clockwise' thing is just for ease. But if i send teams out each half, and spam the arena saying who's who i could mix em up.

maybe just get diagonals to swap, least then one team will change :/

dunno what will work yet, i'll have a think!

The reason when it all first started and was made a knockout competition was I wanted teams to play as frantically as possible to win a game. Which made for some very exciting games.

The league idea is good. But would it dilute the excitement ? as there will be less to loose in a single game. In a league format afterall there are long term goals. Which the loss of a game may not affect.

but as tigers dont play any less hard in a league game than a KO game, i dont think other teams do either.

So i dont think it would affect the fun of the games really :/

only playing 1 game can be a shame, and a full league can take a lot of time - so maybe a world cup style thingy with small preliminary leagues then ko format?

I think it's a great idea in principle, but leagues take time to run and with the main events beign 2-squad and 4-squad, I'm not entirely sure there would be enough time to fit it all in.

I'd like to see the proposals with timescales and then have a chat about it.

League wise, i'll draw up a plan for 18 teams.

I like the world cup idea :) that COULD be run on sundays......

I dont know if Feathers has seen this yet, but from what Ive heard, adding up the scores from a game can be sometimes a massive headache and to add the scores up from several games all in 1 week over a period of several weeks could prove to a massive problem

4squad was hard enough to do IMO a KTF league sounds a lot of fun, but has the potential to be an administrative nightmare.

Shut it Haz :P Unfortunately there should be enough ktf refs by the end of the KTF comp, also more could be trained as the league progresses. :)

IJ.....speak to me before you do anything mate. 2Squad starts again shortly, need to speak to Feathers about the reffing issue and most importantly how it will slot in timewise.

Don't get me wrong, the idea sounds good, I am just conscious of the other events scheduled shortly and how it will mix in.

I will speak to you on ICQ/Mail IJ.....when you have a template for me to look at.
