Just heard the sad news that Ed Brubaker's book Deadenders is going to be cancelled. Damn shame. It was few vertigo books that really shone.
Brubaker's strength as a writer has always been his characterisation. His protagonists are always pretty close to home. They bitch, they piss each other off, they struggle to apologise to friends and loved ones even when they know they should. In short, they **** up. A lot. But then, don't we all?
I'm defintely gonna miss Beezer and crew as they struggle to come to terms with the **** life throws at them.
I know it's not all bad news for Brubaker who is joining Greg Rucka on Batman, but I sincerely hope he's back doing a character driven book again soon.
