In this post I aim to give you an opportunity that you may find hard to resist.

Think back to when you were trying to learn, html, flash, asp, cgi, perl, php, or any other aspect of web design you know. Was it easy to find somewhere which had everything you needed to get started? Did you find a website which solved all your problems? I know I didn't. Did you find yourself posting on numerous forums trying to find answers? I know I did.

What if, at that time, there was one website which had it all? A huge database of links to sites in all areas of web design, a panel of experts which were online 24/7, available by email, icq, or irc, and a forum moderated by those same people.

Would that have helped?

These sites were and still are rare. Due to the massive amount of work they take to get up and running and to keep them running there are few and far between.

My objective is to build a website exactly like I've just mentioned. I've always got my eye out for opportunities, but I've never come across one with so much potential. I have contacts for hosting, advertising, sponsoring, a few emails and all that could be sorted. So its just a matter of building the army. If you have knowledge in any aspect of webdesign and you want to be involved in this then please contact me by email, not icq, as soon as possible. I need a panel of experts. If you know people who would be interested then get them to contact me, this is not a local operation, it will be worldwide, im not just looking for people in the wireplay community.

I need people for the following categories (plus any ive missed):

HTML, JAVA, FLASH, CGI, ASP, PHP, PERL, GFX, HOSTING, ADVERTISING, SPONSORING.

This could become big, very big, dont waste this opportunity, I hope to hear from you soon.

Nice idea
check out http://www.htmlgoodies.com and http://www.webmonkey.com for examples of tutorials. If you can get your tutorials written very similarly you shouldn't have too much trouble attracting the hits.

I know HTML (including it's spin offs/extensions: DHTML, some XML), Java script and VBScript and Coldfusion.

I might be learning Java in the near future.

I'll email you with some details later, but I have to seriously think whether or not I can provide the time needed for such a venture

I could be of some use in the Flash department. I would like to help with something like this. I have emailed you.

Nitewulf my approach to this is not written tutorials. I persoanlly don't like them. The idea of this site is not to be a database of tutorials, its to be a panel of experts who can have 1on1's and group discussions with people who need help.

You may have noticed I don't have a completely clear idea of the objectives of this site but I can assure you there will be no tutorials, I've never had trouble finding tutorials for anything so whats the point, thats already catered for.

Basically like this forum, but more specialised and with additional features and contact methods?

ShAkA

yes exactly, also more widespread. Like I said this is not a gameplay thing, its completely seperate, I'm only here looking for people as I know the community and it holds a lot of telent.

I like the idea od the Wireplay webmasters thing... but is there any need for another Web Designers tutorial thingy. There are many sites already out there which do it very well. It would take years to get the depth and standard of articles that WebMonkey has. Good luck anyway :)

One thing that would be cool and that I have not seen anywhere but here is a well supported and well used forum. The forum here is great but is constarained to one area. A whole forum board dediacated to web design would be great.

I reckon the forums should be, like Karve said, with a few extras

Client Side;
HTML
D-HTML
Javascript
CSS
Flash
XML
WAP / WML

Server Side;
CGI
Perl
PHP
MySQL
ASP

Other;
Browsers
Graphics
Web Servers
Hosting
Domains

Cant think of anything else at the mo, i'm sure there's other stuff tho.

Everyone's focusing on technical issues. Don't forget the design matters - navigation, information architecture, interactivity etc.

Pete they arn't talking about our site, they are talking about the Wireplay Webmasters site.

Karve

We are not talking about any site in particular.. this can be incorporated into any site or as a forum on its own.

As you can see though, there is plenty of scope for a designated forum. As an example of how this has been done very well check flashkit's forum...

http://board.flashkit.com/board/index.php

That is the sort of thing that is needed but from a more general web designers point of view.
