css dosent like me [Archive] - Wireplay Community Forums

i was going through one of the tutorials on http://www.webmonkey.com
and i got to linking to stylesheets
i had this on my html doc

and in the css i had
H1 { color: green; font-family: impact }
P { background: yellow; font-family: courier }
now it was supposed to end up with the text at the top being green but it was black, i asked a couple of peeps i knew but they didnt know what it was, can anyone help me ut ? or does it really not like me lol

i assume that your .css page is in the same dir as the page you are accessing it form ?

yes
the other effect works (the yellow background)
but the other bit just looks like normal:(

It seems to be the first line of your stylesheet:

@charset iso-8859-1

that's the problem. I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of that line is in this context anyway, and I believe the @ link is used to represent links in CSS (?) so that may be confusing it. Anyway, remove that line and it all works fine.
