Hi guys,
I am creating a site for a car club with a small flash intro consisting of text and jpegs that fade in and out.
I have created the text, converted it to a symbol and used alpha blending and motion tweening to fade in and out. Now, if I play the movie it looks fine, just what I want. However, if I go to test movie or publish, all of the fading is lost on the text, however it is still apparent with the jpegs.
I would be very grateful if someone could show me the error of my ways....and go easy 'cos its only my 2nd go at flash!
Cheers for any help,
is it uploaded somewhere, so we can check it out . . . . . . .

ok, just quickly put it up at:
http://home.freeuk.net/saga/mgintro.html
basically, the text should fade in and out, especially the car types further into the demo.
Cheers
Saga

uh?
Are you saying that the text fades on yours? 'cos when I look at it it just appears then dissappears?!
I am mostly talking about the text that appears as the photos scroll over.
i thought u couldnt tween symbols?
IMO tweening is changing shape, not?
But he means fading, and trhat is playing with the alpha values, not?
And it doesn't fade 4 me neither................:(
I asked a friend to look into it. Perhaps he knows.... but he needs to work tonight, so i hope someone sort it out earlier.
cheers,

Yes everything fades fine for me. I'm using IE 5.5. Not sure what other info would be relevant or helpful.
p.s. I am using a 3dfx v3000 open GL graphics card...

Just upgraded from 5.0 to 5.5 but still looks the same!
Only way I can think of fixing it is to do all the text as images in fireworks then import them into flash.
Anyone else got any ideas?
But it works fine for me. ;(
Check your internet options in the tools menu maybe...

Sorted it.
Apparently you have to 'break apart' text symbols for it to work, although I discovered this more by trial and error than from the Flash help files which are decidedly vague about the whole thing. Cant understand how it worked on yours though :/
can you upload it again, so we can see how it really works. tnx

OK, reloaded it to:
http://home.freeuk.net/saga/introdemo.htm
Should have the full site up tomorrow so you can see how it looks in context.
Cheers for your help anyway.
