I love WP. I live WP. I drink Coca Cola (TM). Aaanyway....I've been using WP for some time now under Windows 95, which is ok. But my goddamn 95 is so goddamn buggy it usually crashed when I try to run most exe files (with a few exceptions). So I got scampered together my pocket money and went off to Tempo (TM) to buy a new operating system. Win 98. Blah. Win 2000. Blah. Win NT. Ooooh...sounds good. Although many games dont/wont run under NT, most of mine do (wohoo!), as NT is pretty buisnessy, thats not a problem. So I installed my games and stuff in NT, all okay. But then it came to WirePlay. No problem, I downloaded it again, sure. I ran the installation program, not thinking there'd be much of a problem as NT runs most programs (just not games) but as the self installation tocked up to 99%....BOOOOOOOM! The earth shook, the universe trembled, a horrific explosion shot into the blood-red sky...uhh...I got an error message. It just wouldn't install! So as my 95 is so buggy I'm lucky if I can boot into it without it freezing up, WirePlay wont support NT (or vice versa), and I'm flat broke, I'm pretty much stuck in the multiplayer gaming section. This is a huge upset for me as WP gave a short taste of multiplayer gaming (untill 95 cacked up) I feel a....a lust...a need..a want for multiplayer gaming. Please, if it is possible, make a 12-year-old serial gamer happy, relieve his cravings by please make an NT version of Wireplay. Pretty Please?

Hey look just do this... Go into the shop and get a refund on your NT. Why you got that operating system is beyond me as NT is for networking primarily, also many games are developed with the Windows 98 platform in mind. Go into a good PC shop and purchase a copy of Windows 98 second edition which is the operating system you really need. Windows 2000 is a next version of NT by the way and again that is not suitable for your needs either. A good shop would have told you the benefits of each OS and they should be happy to offer you a replacement and seeing as you are only twelve look really upset like you are gonna cry and they will feel guilt and change it over for a spanking new Windows 98 SE..

Regards,

Olly

P.S Let me know how you get on ok??

NT is a very good stable os :) If you wait a little longer the next version of wireplay will be out. It's browser based so I guess its effectively a load of plugins?!?! which I guess will work with all (most) browsers.

Actually, Win NT is a great OS, better than that buggy bag of code known as W98. I've never had so many crashes with an operating system as I've had with 98.

2000, fyi is actually an operating system bringing together the games platform of 95/98 and the stability and greatness of NT.

Now, if only I could get RC3 of 2000 to work. :p

Wireplay isn't supported on NT, mostly because of the things NT doesn't have. It is a 'serious' operating system and doesn't have a lot of the extras tha 95/98 does in order to facilitate games and appications - it would have been prohibitive to have written code to replace the missing bits. As for WP 3.0, I'm not sure, I'll ask Slarti to give us a definitive statement. WP 3.0 is not strictly 'browser-based' as there is a helper application working under the bonnet, which has to be custom written on each platform - now we intend to cover most platforms, but obviously each one will take time. I'll get Slarti to give us the facts.

Win95 works quite well as long as you don't have damaged files witch do tend to acummulate.
I had the same problems until I ersase my hardisk and reinstalled everthing. However I still experienec some crashes ocassionally. Also a lot of sofware will only run on win95
