View Full Version : SB128 Problem.
My friends got a SB128 and when he has UT loaded he can't get any sounds out of ICQ etc....
Is this coz the card aint hard enough or is it a driver thing?????

Some games do do this sort of thing and don't let anything access the hardware but It's probably because the card doesn't have enough channels or it's not full duplex or something like that. Maybe ask in the UT Forum (http://faster.wireplay.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=120) if someone can do a test with an SB L!ve card to see if they can.
I've got a SB Live!1024 and thats does it okay. But like you say i dont know if it coz the SB128 aint go enough channels

I have a pci128 soundblaster fitted, and I've noticed that the sounds have stopped in ICQ recently ( might be a set up problem)
The card however IS a full duplex card, It runs Roger Wilco just fine with simultaneous Transmit and recieve.
And it drives my new Soundworks FPS1500 speaker set nice and loud, thanks very much

what do you think of the FPS1500's?
i've just ordered a set for my Duron rig (to go with a live series card).
As said before the problem could be the number of sound channels the sb128 has.

FPS1500 - Only one word - LOUD!
I havent even tried cranking the volume past 25% and the windows shake. Thats only the windows start up sound as well
I may change to a Soundblaste 5.1 Live Platinum as I know where I can get a dirt cheao one, brand new, but unboxed.
A m8 is startin out in the computer world with a custom built one and the shop is fitting one. But, the soundcard he needs is gonna cost over $500, (Digital outputs), and the Platinum will be surplus

Hey guys!
How much are these FPS speakers I've been hearing so much about lately?
I've currently got some of those Logic 3 Sound Station speakers from GP. Excellent for the price, but the bass distorts easily at high volumes.

The FPS1000's and FPS1500's are about £50.
The 1500's come with a slightly better wattage (6watts RMS per channel and i think 17 for the woofer) but no speaker stands.
The 1000's have 4watts per channel, and an 8watt woofer (i think) but come with a better range of mounting gear.
Go here (http://www.americas.creative.com/speakers/pc-four-point/) for info on the FPS1000's
