I've got a SCSI CD-RW thats been working spot on for months, yesterday I got a cd stuck (fuk knows how) in it and had to manually eject the tray, since then no CD's will work in the cd-rw drive, I get the device is not ready..... message :(

I've tried re-installing the SCSI card and drivers but it still wont detect any CD's, everythings working fine according to device manager..... I don't want to re-format cause I need to back everythin up on CD :) any ideas that don't involve an hammer?

Euughh sounds bad :( Is it still under warranty?
Short of opening the drive up which will invalidate the warranty theres not much you can do. Maybe the CD got stuck because something broke off inside, did you have to force the tray open, anything rattling about...

No it opened fine, theres a iccle hole in the front to shove a pin in that opens it but the cd was still spinnin like mad :E and no I didnt turn the power off :0

I'll take it back and get a new one, saves fookin about.

its just that in my cdrw manual it says always power off before doing an emergency eject or u will render the drive useless....

i hope u can get it swapped on the warranty :)
don't tell em what u did ;)
