I've never actually done it before so I don't know how to do it. Could anyone tell me exactly how to do it?

So far I've made backups of:

documents
graphics
ICQ contacts
Favourites
Save Games etc

is there anything else I should back up?

Mail/News
Depending on connection any Dial-up settings/password/config
Serial numbers for registered apps/games
Get as much of the latest software that would have to be downloaded via Windows Update on CD's, things like ie5.5 Media Player, game patches otherwise you'll be there four years downloading updates after.

Hmmm If I think of any more I'll post them...

oh yeah P0rn :naughty:

Only 4gb's of porn tsk tsk we have been slacking :naughty:

I assume your just rebuilding the PC back with 98? If so make a Win98 boot disk and use that. If your happy with the current HD partition split then yeah it's a shove it in get to good'ol dos and format C:/s the /s makes it bootable just in case :)

If you want to rejig the size of the partitions (if you have any) then you'll need to run fdisk and set them up.

Might want to have a quick read of this (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q188/8/81.ASP) if your not 100% sure before we say bye bye to PC :)

Make sure in the BIOS it is setup to boot from a disk, should already be enabled.

Put in the disk, when it has loaded the disk it should give you some options (I think, cause I got ME) if it has choose the one with start PC with CD ROM support.

When has booted up make sure it is on a: at the DOS Prompt.

Then type:

format c:

Should be straight forward from then on.

Make sure you have your modem drivers, and any other important drivers before you format though.
