Hey all,

Ive recently got cable and thought i'd give hosting a try. I follow all the dedicated server settings but when I host a game on my other computer (P166 + Win98) the game does not appear in gamespy. When I host one from my PC it works fine.
What I want to do is host on the other pc and join over the LAN from my pc. I can join the game that doesnt appear on gamespy because I know the IP, and use the "connect" from the game.
Anyone any ideas?

Cheers folks.

P.S. anyone know where the WP servers have gone, will they be back? they were still the best ive played on so far.

Hmm strange.

Why do you want to run a game on a P166 anyway, will it be powerfull enough?

Can you tell me when you got a game going and I'll join in, if it's ok with you.

Hello Jev,

Its not that im running the game on the 166, the idea was to setup the 166 as a dedicated server to allow people to join from the net. I can then use my LAN to join the game myself from my computer.
I dont know how good the 166 would be as a server as I cant get it to work.
We would not have to do this if Wireplay would set up another of those servers they had. That was the best server i've seen to date.

Yeah I got the fact that you wanted to run it as a dedicated machine.

Have you got your main computer running as a deicated server?

Might be worth asking TK421, he set up the wireplay ones.

Sounds like your PC is your internet gateway and doing all the NAT for your LAN. Try making your 166 the gateway (i.e connnect it to your cable modem and setup internet connection sharing on it). That way the game should be net facing and you will still be able to connect to if over LAN with a sweet ping. Hope this helps.
