Hi all,

I recently re-installed win 98 SE, and got all my drivers and everything. It works fine, except in the device manager, there is a yellow exclamation next to the device "PCI Serial Controller" and it says that i don't have the driver for it.

I have a PC chips m747 motherboard, and I've been to the PC Chips website, and there is no mention of a serial controller driver. Do i need one? I'm hoping to get a pci graphics card this month (No AGP slot), so will this be detected without this driver?

Cheers
:)

hi

sounds like your modem needs new drivers (i think that is how my diamond supraexpress 56I was described by windows before driver installation).

Yep, that's probably it. I use a supra 56e pro, BUT I have an internal modem that I don't use and isn't installed. So windows thinks this is a PCI serial controller? Weird. Okay guys, i think i'll search the web to try and find those drivers.

Cheers

Hi the most likely reason it's thought as a serial interface device is because it is to all intents and purposes a serial interface (has one line to send and one line to receive data, so the data is sent one bit at a time) :)
