Lo all

I have recently purchased a Geforce 2 and i seem to be having problems with Direct 3D is games, Ie Asherons Call and Unreal Tournament. The game just locks up and i have to restart my computer.

OpenGL Games seem to run fine no lock ups at all, 2D is also fine, just seems to be in Direct 3D

Now i have ran direct X diag and everything works out fine. I have installed the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers for my motherboard plus the agp x 4 Patch.

My Current System Specs Are as follows

MSI KT7 Pro motherboard
Duron 700
128MB PC100 RAM
VideoLogic DVD Player (DVD CARD)
SoundBlaster Live 1024
Creative Labs Geforce 2 GTS

I have installed the current NON beta Detonator 3 drivers, when this locked up i installed the latest creative labs drivers, still no luck.

So i am asking all you lovely ppl out there ;)
Is there any settings in the bios?
Patches i am missing?

Thanks for reading, I Hope one of you can help me :)

Same problem here with

Creative 3D Blaster Gerforce 2 Ultra
AMD Athlon 900
256 meg Ram
Latest 4 in 1 via drivers (not sure about the agp 4x patch)
Windows 2000
Direct X 8

Games like Project IGI, that use direct 3d lock up (seems to be at random)
Then games like halflife on Open GL work fine.

PLUS 3DMARK SCORE OF (wait for it) 4017 !!
Go on laugh you S-H-I-T-S

disable agp 4x, nvidia cards are notorious for locking up with it enabled on via chipsets.

Ok ive been messing around with my setup since xmas and i believe i have the solution so try this

fdisk and format (drastic but it works)
install win98
install dx7a
install the very latest creative drivers (check http://www.voodoofiles.com )
install the 4.27 blastercontrol (check http://www.soundblaster.com)
install the via 4 in 1 (the seperate 4.04 driver isnt needed as its in the 4in1)
re-install dx7a

thats it! forget the nvidia drivers watever version the creative are bloody good enuf and the options in blastercontrol should see you well enuf, this is where you can revert to 2x or 1x agp as recommended by the last poster.

finally dont switch drivers and dont install dx8, dx8's improvements on dx7a arent valid for nvidia cards as all they do is add hardware support for features the gf2 doesnt run in hardware, trust me ive looked it up. as for switchin drivers dont. seriously the best way if you dont like my advise is to fdisk and format again replacing the above adviced drivers for the nvidia ones.

my spec for those interested is

creative gf2 gts 32mb ddr
creative sb live platinum 5.1
13g standard hdd
gigabyte ga6e7+ mobo
12bmb pc133 ram
p3 800 eb flip-chip

hope for anyone taking my advice that it works.

cheers

You have to install the VIA 4-in-1 before you have installed any graphics or audio device or you are asking for poor performance and lock ups.
btw det's 7.04 and above support dx8.0 and you may see a little improvment with them( I did, 7.17 are good)
