View Full Version : 3DMark score...
Recently upgraded and I was getting 1800 marks until I downloaded the AGP miniport driver; now I'm getting 4400 which still seems a bit low. Here's my spec:
Duron 800,
256MB CAS 2 Crucial RAM,
Geforce 2 MX,
GA71XE4 Mobo,
Using the online result compare thing on madonion.com I think I should be getting 5000 upwards. Are there any tweaks I need to do to improve my score? :p
Thanks,
Blobbo/Chris

OK here's my system:
Socket A Athlon 900
256 meg Ram (133mhz)
30gb Ultra ATA100 hdd
3D Blaster Geforce 2 Ultra
TMC motherboard (VIA chipset)
Latest Drivers- Nvidia Det3's, DX8, 4.28 VIA drivers
Here's my problem, i get 5975 on 3Dmark2000
PLEASE HELP ME
Tried previous versions of DX and dets as well no change :(
Eastyyy - The AGP miniport driver is hidden away in the system building section. Quick way to get to it is through support:athlon:software drivers/utilities.

One more thing - the miniport driver is only for AMD chipset motherboards. Don't get it if you have a VIA chipset.

well my specs are ..
Thunderbird 1ghz (Socket A)
Abit KT7 mobo with 4in1 drivers
128mb (133mhz) <-- not any type of CAS its cra.p cheap ram
2x15.3 GB UDMA66 drivers (1@5400, 1@7200)
Prophet2 GTS 64Mb (220clock/365ram)
4x agp with fast writes
= 7100
although if any of u know crowe.. he has a duron clocked to 1.2ghz and he getes 8000+ :*(
well as a rule i get pretty good frame rates in all my games
my system is
duron 700
ga 71xe4
96mb
2hardrives a 4gb udma 33 13gb udma 66
44 cdrom
soundblaster live
as rule if its working fine i leave it now i had major problems before 1 problem i still have are the BUS MASTER IDE drivers AMD ones once they are installed the system freezes before the windows user name /password screen comes up now i know my hardvive can use them cos the last motherboard i had used VIA bus master drivers. Now though i have to use a basic IDE driver set which means my hardrives arent going as fast has anyone else had this problem.
What kind of 3dmark score do you get, Eastyyy?
Doh... just installed 3dmark on Win2K and I only get 3500 on that!
er 3dmarks i am not to sure now 3dmark 2000 crashes at exactly the same point everytime but everything else works in 3dmark 99 i get around about 6000marks :first demo about 68frames per second

hmmm i think my 3dmark score aint great
Tbird 1ghz
Abit kt7 (non raid) with 4in1 drivers
256ram (128mb-133cas2crucial + 128mb-100****)
ATI radeon 64ddr vivo retail (special purpose drivers)
4x agp
10GB hdd
=5190 3d marks :(
my system is also very unstable, keeps crashing, apps take ages to load considering spec, 3d apps seem choppy and fps seem to drop sometimes which i would never expect dunno what to do.
I too am getting a crappy score. The wierdest thing is that I scored 6500 when I first ran it, then after a couple of week's it seems to never get higher than 4400.
I have tried re-installing the 4in1 driver's and have tried both the latest Detonator drivers and the drivers that came with my card.
My spec:
1GHz Athon
Prophet II MX
128 RAM
MS-6340 mainboard
20 gig HD
HP 9310 CD-RW
Win98
I have installed a few games/apps and messed about a little with my system setting (not much though). I just can't get my score back up (with FSAA on or off).
Any ideas?

/me thinks that we may all be getting a bit hung up on this one bit of software :{
I have used 3dmark to get some numbers, but only cos I was upgrading and wanted to know I was getting something for me money. Now that I have added me PIII800 and GeForce2 GTS I get 6800. Before the PIII800 (when it was a PII450) it was 3800, and before the GF2 GTS I don't know cos I didn't run it.
But more importantly, to really test what difference it makes I went into UT. I was most pleased to find I could up the resolution from 800x600 in 16 bit to 1024x768 in 32 bit and it STILL ran faster :) I even pumped it up even higher (12xx by 1xxx or summat) and it still flew :)
I then ran other games and demos, changed all the settings to higher res, and watched them fly too :)
So I got what I really wanted... not a higher 3dmark score, but much prettier and faster games.
Thats cool, but I want to get the most out of my system and you can't tell exactly how well its performing unless you bench-mark it. My games as run well as I need them to, but i'm just greedy i guess. I want the most for my money. its a bit of an obsession maybe. Ok, so I don't care if i get a score of 6500 or 6300, but a score of 2000 less is indicating there is a problem/bottleneck/whatever and I would like to get to the root of it if I can. Call me a geek if you want (my girlfreind certainly does!), but I quite enjoy messing about and tweaking my system.
Anway, SoftSandra is showing my memory to be performing poorley so i'm off to look into that and see if its at the root of my poor graphics performance :)...

GEEK !! :dork:
No, really... what you say is fair enough.
I was just a bit worried that many peeps seem to be jumping onto 3dmark as if it was the only thing that mattered.
Tweak away :P
