xDSL...there are several different types of them.
ADSL
WDSL etc.

With ADSL being the oldest and most inefficient...which is why the crippled old monopolistic BT chose that one to institue.

The US hasn't used ADSL for about 4 years m8.

They still have it but they have moved on...unlike the piece of $hit bt.

WDSL is Wireless DSL - i.e. through a satellite link.

Check out [Punk]s earlier posts, cos he is a bit of a pioneer in the field of using WDSL for online gaming!

There are several types of DSL services. The most common is the ADSL (= Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line). A Technology that allows very high bandwidth using normal phone lines. BT is being blamed for holding back the development of this technology because they still control the phone lines connected to your house and are preventing other suppliers from gaining access (via the BT exchanges) to implement it before BT do.

WDSL = Wireless DSL, i.e. no wires DSL service. This is not satellite based though, it uses line-of-sight transimissions from masts, and hence is a very limited service at the moment. The people that I know of supplying this are Tele2 (www.tele2.co.uk). Punk has been posting cos he actually had the service installed this year - and so far it seems very good.
