View Full Version : Broadband speed test in UK??

anyone know of anysites i can test my speed at.
I've done the http://www.dslreports.com ones and the msnhardware one but I get cack line speeds on them (200-300kbs down/123 up).
Thing is i'm downloading files at between 30-70K so I just wondered if I could test my line speed on any Uk sites.
I'm on BY got it installed on saturday and its been great for me so far avg 20-30 ping on WP/BW servers.

Yes there is, it's basically ripped off the DSLReports version but I can't remember it and it's in a newsgroup I don't have access to right now :(
If no ones posted it by tonight I'll have a look :)

I hope this is what you mean cos I don't know if there's a difference between a broadband speed test and a normal one and I would have thought you'd already tried this. It's US yeah but I usually get 148-152kbps on my 150kbps connection =]

Oh yeah LoneGun,

Make sure you use http://www.downloadaccelerator.com for your downloads because it makes sure that the download site is the limiting factor. I've heard that this keeps the d/l rate up in the 50s for people with ADSL.

Best download manager is Flashget... you'd probably download at about 5k a sec more by using it.

Got your CM, well done Lonegun!

To check your optimum dl speed. Upload files to your webspace, then download it...sounds crazy, no?

Anyway, BY give 20MB webspace for CM holders. Once I figure out how to access it, I'm gonna try the same test.

Ok found it...

This (http://www.thebyrefuge.f2s.com/) is the site with the ripped DSL Reports java script and heres (http://www.mahndavis.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk) another site you can look at.

Unfortunately as my Java is stuffed I can't run the first one and give you an example speed I'm getting, :mad: @ Micro$oft
