you should have a read of This Article (http://www.aceshardware.com/Spades/read.php?article_id=20000184) which tests a few systems and you can see the difference DDR and videocards make to the games...
FYI I have a T-bird Athlon (NOT DDR) running at 1224 MHz with a Geforce 2 GTS card... Glad to say that I spank the Pentium 4 1.5GHz on a couple of benchmarks and the Duron 800DDR on most benchmarks... and also glad to say that any upgrade won't affect HL/TFC more than 1 or 2 FPS
