Hmm - H00J topic this and it's a bit late to start going into it.
Unfortunately, there are some IRQ settings you cannot change - I know that IRQ 11 is normally reserved for video cards and that is a right pain to shift. On recent motherboards with the right OS (W95 OSR2/ W98 and ME) there is the facillity to use 'PCI Steering' where more than one item can share an IRQ. On my system there are at least three things sharing IRQ 11!.
There are different ways to change an IRQ of a peripheral. It could be a jumper on the card or in Windows itself. If you right click on My Computer and then select 'Properties' - 'Device Manager'. Now hightlight the hardware you want to look at and choose 'Properties'. Now click on the resources tab and you'll see it's hardware attributes. You could (not saying you should!) select the IRQ and then click 'Change Setting' and move the IRQ to a different one. However, I don't suggest you do this just yet.
You must be asking because you have a specific problem. Please can you fill us in on the nature of the problem and give us a run-down of your hardware ?. I'm sure one of us will be able to assist!
It's about 1:30 and I need sleep. Please post some more details and I'll look back in again on Tuesday.
I had IRQ conficts on my system. My modem and G-force 2 were both using IRQ 11 and My sound card and network using IRQ 10, but when I changed the PCI cards around 3 of them were using IRQ 10.
SO THIS was the way I sorted it out.
1. Right click on My computer and select Properties
2. In System Properties, click on Device Manager
3. Choose System devices then click on PCI bus
4. Click on the IRQ Steering and untick( Use IRQ Steering ) then OK it and restart your system.
If this has worked then you don't need step 5.
5. You may incounter aother problem, So go back in System Properties and Device manager (I got a Sound blaster Live card so this may not work with yours) On mine there were a problem with Creative SB16 Emulation So I just untick or tick (no sure which one) *Allow LPT Interrupt Sharing* and restarted the PC and now I have no conflicts at all.
So if yours is differcne just find ( Allow LPT Interrupt Sharing ) and untick /or tick it and restart the PC.
It works on my computer m8, see if it works on your.
