I heard some news last summer that BT were offering upgrades for current ISDN Home Highway users, to upgrade to ADSL for around £50.

Does anybody know anything about this?

Thanks!

im not sure if that was a temporary offer or not, it could well be you would have to pay the full whack now.

Email BT about it

I have heard you had to have isdn uninstalled then they do the test. If you fail you have to pay to go back to ISDN. They even charge for this. I really hope bt come up with some official upgrade deal soon. I've love to keep my two telephones numbers and get ADSL. In Germany you can have ISDN and ADSL apparently. That would be sweet, if ADSL goes belly up you've got a backup. :)

I'd pay £50 a month for that.

I was going to swap from isdn to adsl until i got the info from nildram , this is the email they sent me to let me no what i would have to do . At present there is no ISDN to ADSL conversion process and unfortunately, BT have not yet given us an indication of when it will be available.
You would either have to arrange with BT to convert your ISDN to an analogue line, once this is done it is possible for us to order ADSL for you (considerable downtime).
Or you can have a separate analogue line installed and then cancel your ISDN once your ADSL in up and running (more expensive).
The reason for this, is that it is not possible for us to place an ADSL order with BT until the customer has an analogue line which can be tested for line quality and distance from the local exchange.
Bloody bt why do they make things so hard , surely its not difficult to do, or is it they dont want us isdn users to go for adsl which would mean less money for them . :(

I've just gone through the same thing and decided to pay BT to remove ISDN. I also went with Nildram who I have nothing but praise for in the way they dealt with my order. Less than two week between removing ISDN and installing ADSL today.

Downloads up to 60kbps and pings on BW servers of between 28 and 45 so far. But no packet loss (yet).

Once you've tasted broadband you won't want to go back :)

I signed up for adsl openworld back in March last year, I'm on Home Highway at the mo. Was not too fussed about getting the conversion as I had a redhotant account so free 24/7.

I have rung several times about when will the upgrade from HH to adsl be available, in March they said May, June they say July etc, get the picture?

With Redhot gone I rang again and the latest is:
"We should have an itermidiate fix for the end of Feb and full upgrade in April, same ole story." (they make too much money from HH users that they don't want to find a solution is my theory)

Anyway it's cost me £49.99 to have HH removed and normal line installed (10 mins work, nice!) with Adsl due in 2 weeks, luckily for me it's free as I signed up early
