Hi,

Was wondering about hosting (yes, AGAIN!)... anyway, I am very tempted to go for Freeola / Get Dotted - it is only £37 for 2 years for a .com address, which isn't bad. Just wondering what everyone thought about them, and if you have had any problems.

One aspect that may put me off is having to use their dial up (which I hate!), so if you have any other suggestions then they will be welcome - I don't want to spend much more than that... maybe willing to go up to £50 :E Yeah, the pleasures of working to a tight budget :(

waldo i use freeola for my hosting, php4 cgi/perl , if you have a look on af ew of the php cgi sites you should find a few php or cgi file managment or upload scripts which i use to get round not dialing up to upload new files as i use a cable modem. i only ever dial up to them for a few secs to delete stuff sneaky i know but worth it hehe :E

yes i do i lied, i use this little gem of a script called eUpload, you can set up different useraccounts which upload your files to the dir you specify for the account, yer can bag it here with a few more useful scripts http://www.ftls.org/en/examples/cgi/

ebandit... how easy is it to setup for Freeola? (rate on a scale of 1-10!!!) I ain't brilliant at the technical side of things so I would appreciate it if you could let me know any hints or tips for setting it up... you can e-mail me if you want at andrew.j.wallace@btinternet.com
Thanks for that most valuable tip!

no prob, tis dead easy, sign up for thier isp access, then once you've bought yer domain from them you might have to wait a couple of days while its bieng setup, once you recieve your details its just a matter of logging into thier online control panel with your user id and password that and setting the domain up with a few easy settings, the control panel is also where you setup your pop3 email addy's up aswell, yer prolly know this but they give you cgi/perl, php4 and unlimited webspace :) once you've paid yer domain you've got nowt more to pay until two years, or if before then i think it's a very small fee to transfer your domain to any hosting provider you choose.
