Not sure of how you will apply your knowledge but consider Coldfusion from Allaire at least as an alternative to PHP and ASP
Surprisingly powerful for something that is so easy to learn.
http://www.webmonkey.com has great tuorials including an introduction to Coldfusion and how it can benefit your web pages.
http://www.allaire.com is the official website
As for learning; in general the best way is to get a few examples of scripts read up on the subject at sites like Webmonkey
http://www.htmlgoodies.com and others suggested above
Tweak the scripts and see what the results are.
Good luck but be prepared to spend some money as nothing is truly free.

I found a Manual for PHP to download under http://www.php.net
If you know where to get Manuals for the other languages please tell me (to download)
Which one is the easyest language to learn ?

well i dont know for sure since i dont have the time to learn any. But i would suggest the ASP route since to me (coming from a VB background) it seems fairly simple and the thing of the future. :)

php is the real future man

Think that is the correct address... if I remember correctly, Freeskills have a lot of online manuals and tutorials (made up from books) that you can view. Don't know if any of them cover what you mentioned, but it is certainly worth a try.

Coldfusion, ASP and PHP all do similar things and trust me when I say Coldfusion is by far the easiest to learn and hence probably the quickest.
Have a read of webmonkey you'll see what I mean.
If you were to get serious about either CF or ASP then I think off the top of my head and from what I can gather in the industry now you'll have to pay the same amount of squids to advance albeit earlier with CF than with ASP.
At the moment having knowledge of either will land you a job with very similar pay. Obviously both have their pros and cons and I can only direct you to the websites where you can gather such information, unfortunately you have to read up on it :)
try http://forums.allaire.com
there's a thread on there asking if CF is dying compared to ASP/ASP+ and PHP. There are some really convincing arguments for the use of both.
Learning PERL online is not easy - it's quite a tough language and I tried for a long time to find decent tutorials but never really got there. Then I bought a book on it and found it a lot easier to learn (not that I'm very good at it now but I can get by).
PHP is surprisingly easy to learn online - in fact you should be able to learn it using the following tutorial:
http://www.webmasterbase.com/article.php?aid=228&pid=0
http://www.thickbook.com/extra/php_apachephp4_win.phtml
The first article teaches you EVERYTHING from basics of the language to advanced database interaction - the 2nd one is a step by step guide to getting PHP running on your windows desktop (great for testing out scripts).
For free PHP hsoting I recommend http://www.uklinux.net
NB - ColdFusion is slightly limited in that it costs money to run a ColdFusion server - PHP is opensource so the software is free. ASp is a bit limited in that it doens't work too well outside of windows, while PHP is pretty much platform independant. Thus PHP rocks :)

Does anyone know where I can get a program that would allow you to test and run Perl scripts in Windows? At present I have to upload everything to the server in order to be able to test whether it even parses correctly. Some form of dev environment would be most handy. I have tried reading various posts at http://www.perl.com about this but they're all hardcore coders and I don't understand a word of it. Someone explaining it nice and simply would help. I've taught myself Perl and would like to make the most of it but uploading all the time to check things is a hassle. Thanks in advance.
And glad to see these forums are as good as they were when I worked for Gameplay.

That's PERL for windows - although tbh I've downloaded it and haven't got it working yet. SHould be just what you're after though - it's a PERL development environment for windows and it can also tie in witha web server (such as apache).
ang on we use a perl development envronment (well ive only actualy used it once to test a perl script to put stuff in a sql database but our perl developers use it) called Perl Builder (www.solutionsoft.com). Its worth a look there is an eval version avalible. Yeah so you can test perl scripts without running a server with this i think.
