Q3A Servers Not Working

Come on guys...fix the bleedin' servers - this is YOUR problem, not ours!!!!!!!!

Every time I try to connect to a Q3A Server I get bombed out again.

And if you think it's my problem, just check how many people are playing the Q3A modem only server at any one time - NONE - no one can connect from anywhere. Yet everyone else's servers are fine.

Me thinks you cocked up the installation of 1.27g! a bad pak file in there maybe...Have a look, I dare you!

Wouldn't it happen globally? Modem and ISDN/ADSL/CM?

Saying that, I believe there is a unusual problem between 1.27g/h and the WP 3.0 Client, but only in the Quake3 sense. Quake2 seems completely unaffected.
Or, my Q3 CD was made in Taiwan with a 6 month guarantee on it. LOL. ;)

And is it me, but there is some weird ****[*hit] going on with the movement of the mouse? It sure as hell wasn't there in 1.17. Taking me frikkin ages to get used to it. I have to set the sensitivity down way way low and then you get this slide show effect with the flick of the mouse.

Firstly, it doesn't matter whether or not you connect to a WP server using WP or diect through Q3A - the problem still persists - meaning it is definatley a WP problem, not 1.27g. It only seems to happen to WP servers, I have not been affected by any other.

as for the mouse - go into mouse properties and disable mouse acceleration - 1.27g uses DirectInput - a part of DirectX which takes mouse movement from the Windows API, rather than direct from the port, which results in the rapid mouse feel - it isn't actually any different in speed, but the acceleration kicks in which is kinda weird!

hi,

with q3 patched to 1.27h and osp version q in the quake 3 folder, and the latest version of rocket arena i can connect to:

osp duel servers
instagib servers
rocket arena servers

painkeep, Q3F beta and promode duel are still on 1.17, so no point in even trying them, but i can't get into the ctf and the ffa(03) servers (i can't try ffa (01) as my ping's toom low :) ). i have informed the server dudes who are looking at it now, and will post back here as soon as i have anything for you

noticed I can now NOT connect to Q3 using WP2.3 - which makes sense. How the hell it worked before, I don't know.

where do you get all these updates from?
since nothing downloads from the game servers, can you point a complete idiot in the right direction

Yeah, cheers...but

the problem doesn't lay with a client config...it's the servers themselves that's the problem!!!!!

I can connect to any other server using any client software, apart from (specifically) Wireplay modem only and other from the box id games! This means it's the WP servers at fault, not my config....and if that wasn't true, how come nobody so far has been able to connect to the WP servers - they're always empty!

PS - ADMIN - why can I not use my own nickname (SHAG), cos nobody else uses it - I'm told that somebody has reserved it from 2.3 or something - that was me - I just can't remember my firggin' password

I will get hold of the admins today and see if they know why this is happening.
The instagib, OSP and Rocket Arena servers are fine so I don't see why the ffa and others don't work.
Will post back when I have some info.

BTW, on the subject of your old username, if it has been reserved for you then you will need to input the password for the WP 2.3 account in where it says while setting up th account, if you can't remember the password then I'm not sure theres anything we can do. If this is the case then please email support@gameplay.com and we will see what we can do. :E

The wireplay FFA (01) server is hunky dory. Connected to it fine on my modem this evening. As with the other baseq3 tyoe q3 servers it is also 1.27.

If there are problems in future with a particular game server, it is probably more advisable to post in the relative game forum first and try #wireplay on quakenet irc or the relative wp room, which in this case would have been #wpq3
