Just been in a game which i got accused of cheating (rather proud of that :E)

After finding a good camping position and running out of assualt gun ammo i was forced to use my pistol then ended up on a knife run :rolling:
Now i've seen "saving private ryan" but that's about as close as i come to war stuff. But as i was laid down in the middle of the rubble, being forced to use my pistol, I kept shouting out for ammo but it never came.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to have an ammo carrying class, a light infantry troop without grenades who carries around all different type of ammo which he can give to troops on the frontline so to speak :)

The ammo carrier wouldn't have the ammo as he respawned he would have to get it from a crate at the spawn and the crate would fill up every few minuites.

Another idea would be a medic, who like the ammo carrier would have to get supplies from a crate but like the medic in FA could only heal a person once per life.
Would give meaning to the voice command "need ammo" and "medic" but importantly each side would only be allowed 1 per side

Just ideas i had, i don't want this game to become a clone of TFC with medics and engys, but i've been drinking and i feel creative ;)

There will be a medic class soon

I dont know about the ammo carrier though

If there was an ammo carrier, nobody would go it because it would be really slow and have rubbish guns...

Only time anyone would play as it would be in a clan game.

And a medic.... you can stop yourself bleeding as it is. You couldn't have a medic who healed you back to full health because that would be a bit strange....

oh, isn't there already a class that can build mounted guns? I'm sure I read about it on the DoD site?

Thats the Engineer, able to build stationary guns for the allied or axis sides to use.

well as long as he doesnt build them by whacking it with a spanner, that sounds pretty cool.

Not really, he places a gun and people use it

Its not automactic

it should work like this (my opinion nothing more), there is a machine gunner class who has the mg42/m1919 30 cal, anda pistol, they cant fire while standing and have to setup the gun before firing, or have to crouch or go prone before they can fire.

I dont think one man would carry a mg42

we need a johnny-on-the-spot-wit-de-ammo class :E

this class could be assigned by the server, that way some poor sod will always be it :E

Mg42 weighed 12kg thats about 26 pounds'ish, m1919 30cal was similar

When i've seen old fotage when I see mg42 teams running it always had two guys carrying it.

I would agree with an ammo class :) i find that its a pain runnign out of ammo

But when you say i need ammo a flashing symbol on the head should apear or somethign cos you cant tell who wants the amom and where they are other wise

I did the same in the game as Del cos i wason the same server ran ot of ammo called for it none came but one guy droped a clip for me and i got another 3 guys with it :) it does happen just not that often be nice if you could at least take the ammo of dead guys that would be helpfull just use the dead body or the gun on thef lor and you get the unsed clips he had left not the one in the gun that would be helpfull i think.

but a big gun class like that wouldnt imho be right for soe maps the indoor tight ones would be cack witha gun like that cos youd just supress the door with fire only chance they would have is realdoing and then you shouled have back up then to cover you anyway. have to make it a map specific i think class if at all

Exactually, i'm not looking at the world through pissed vision anymore but i still think it would be a good idea, not so much for public games but for clan matches :)

well i like the idea of an ammo carrier and other things like that .... but to ever hope to stick it on publics you'd first have to get rid of individual points.

The only way imo to ever make a proper team game is to remove individual points on the score board and just have the team points. That way people wouldn't push you out the way to capture the flag first or let you die first so they capture the flag etc.. etc.. as is seen a lot on public servers on all team games. If you weren't worried what you're score looked like (coz you can't see it) then you'd be more inclined to play the game as a team to make sure your team had a massive score.

yep, personnally i wouldn't mind the class, i used to play medic in FA, and although u don't get the kills, u do get some sense of satisfaction when some1 thanks u :)

As for the personnal scores, i've been on about that for some time, should include it in every team game in my opinion :|

wonder if it's a server side option ? i remember the old CS when you had to type cl_hidefrags 1 or something to see the scores ... maybe they have something like that but for sv_ ?

Was it on the tripod? I bet it was, cos that was a weighty bit of kit.

And I've seen LOADS of pictures and footage of german panzergrenadiers, fallshcirmjagers, ss troopers, etc, carrying them on their own, these werent big muscly guys they were normal build, normal height. Typically one man carried the gun and 2 belts and his loader carried 6 belts of ammo.

Sounds like FA to me....

Bert Raccoon

No it sounds nothing like FA

How the hell do you fire a MG42 standing up Rek?

Its not exactly a tame gun.

And the .30 cal is a box with a barrel on the end

Yes but still...

All of this sounds like a stew of rump-of-TFC and leg-of-FA. Thats not original stuff, and original stuff is what will make a mod successful.

Yeah but thats how they did it in WW2!!!!!!!!

Of course its not orginal... but its what we want

Oroginal would be a level set on another planet because the germans and allies went though a portal

thats orginal

but we dont want it :)
