Patron = pffft?

Just a quick question to experienced peeps:

Is it better to get a patron and get loads of good stuff for free, or do you find good stuff in the wilds etc?

i.e. I'm thinking a big part of the game is actually finding and working for decent stuff, whereas getting this given to you from Mr Patron may make it all a little pointless..?

A patron can be a great help, i.e gives u weapons and armour u may not get till high levels. people with Patrons usually level faster only when they level u:E. try and get a good one i can recommend Nor Xian (god i'm getting good at buttlicking>

It's probably a good idea to get a patron that isn't going to give you the best items in the game at first.

I'd be more bored now if I hadn't had to work for stuffs when I first started... plus it kind of makes finding a 'blood drinker II sword' that little less exciting when you're wielding a BDIV one already.

That and don't get bogged down in one group of people, sure you want longstay friends but the fun is likely to fizzle faster if you don't er 'get around' a bit more ;)

example: I've only sworn to two people in my AC life, and the first was a good 6 months, got very stale by the end because I only ever met the same people over and over, then I swore to expatron's patron and it was new and fun, I broke just bfore the new year because it was getting slow again. Now I'm not sworn to anyone, but I did a LOAD of quests in one weekend on my friends character just by turning up to dungeons and hooking up with people. A lot of people will be friendly and happy to have some live feed to take along ( that's when experience comes in handy as you don't die like you were supposed to :p ).

Enjoy the game, if you're not enjoying it stop playing for a week, hopefully by then you'll get some 'refreshment' when you go back in :)

LOL I think I've see that name around actually...

There seems to be a LOT of stuff hanging around! Is it all bought from traders or can it be found in dungeons/on monstys etc?
Has the 'p' become undervalued to higher level players?

I remember playing the original Élite, it took *ages* to build up your ship and that was the best part! Within 1 hour of finding a patron here I was rolling in cash and equipment :{
