When you install Freeserve it creates a DUN entry, it changes the Internet Explorer logo by using the Administration kit thingy, and it sets your browser to use its web proxy. In IE5 its Tools, OPtions, COnnection, LAN settings. NOTE: There's a profile for each of your DUN entries so disable them all.
I used freeserve first when I joined the net. More fool me. I had trouble getting them off my system. In the end out of frustration I deleted windows cos their components were everywhere. read the answer from scarab it makes sense.
Im having the same prob with freenetname, ive managed to purge it from ie5, but outlook express Ive got no idea, any help appreciated.

If you go to the Freeserve site you can find details of how to remove it there - or so I'm told. Hope that helps.

It is far worse than you think. Freeserve makes around 2000 (yup that's 2k) modification to your system.
Go on yahoo and look for some of the auto removers if you are feeling trusting (they modify your registry which can enable a nasty perp to forward any info you typein - like credit card information)
Alternately do what I did. Go into registry and search on freeserve (& fs) and carefully, very carefully remove the settings....
The real best way is to get an old or neww HDD and make it your OS startup (use MS 2000), but that costs money.
'luck 2 u ;)
